Learning Facilitator, Africa
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
Supports Health Collaborative by:
• Providing ongoing support in the planning, implementation, and strategic direction of the Health Collaborative.
• Collaborating with partner universities to consolidate learning across all funded programs.
• Identifying synergies and making recommendations for further partnership development.
• Scoping and anticipating challenges, recommending best practice, resources and further research to ensure successful outcomes.
• Events management, organising workshops, and webinars; on-going Health in Africa series, Health Learning Circles, annual symposia, among other learning events.
• Developing new stakeholder relationships that will enhance the Health Collaborative.
Facilitates the creation of the learning framework to share the Story of Change for Indigenous African youth:
• Reviews knowledge gathering needs and priorities of the Health Collaborative.
• Co-develops a knowledge gathering strategy that responds to the needs and priorities and includes multiple methods for undertaking the learning framework.
• Utilizes learning methodologies that are congruent with local Indigenous protocols and ways of knowing, being, and doing.
• Designs a strategy for analysis/making meaning from the learning that is gathered.
• Proposing learning events ideas and designs session plans.
• Developing, facilitating, and hosting on-going educational workshops and seminars.
• Identifying potential speakers and panelists; preparing them adequately for speaking engagements.
Mapping of the current ecosystem:
• Contributes to the on-going Needs Assessment research study to map out current ecosystem
• Facilitates, records, and supports the mapping of the current ecosystem
• Incorporates mapping of the current ecosystem into the learning framework and workplan to help guide the strategic direction and actions needed to reach our goals
Provides ongoing communication to partners, stakeholders, and team:
• Prepares reports and documents for sharing ongoing learning with different groups including senior management team, advisory committees, partner institutions, MEL vendor firm(s) and other stakeholders.
• Facilitates meetings and discussions to share learnings and obtain feedback to be incorporated into the initiative.
Reporting:
• Works with team to gather information to be shared in semi-annual reporting requirements of the Foundation.
• Attends and participates in discussion with senior management team for updates on activities.
• Attends and participates in promotional activities, conferences and gatherings which have a direct benefit to the Collaborative.
• Maintaining an appropriate electronic record of relevant documents related to events and programs in the designated U of T filing system.
Conducts Monitoring, Research, and Evaluation of Programs & Processes:
• Supporting the Health Collaborative by engaging in on-going process and program monitoring, learning and evaluation (MEL)
• Ensures that the voice of youth within the region are heard in planning and implementation of initiatives and in determining strategic direction.
• Listens, witnesses, creates space for sharing of stories and translates these observations into relatable, relevant data and information for co-developing the strategy and ultimately sharing the Story of Change.
• Conducts ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the initiative and recommends changes or responsive shifts that may be needed.
• Serving as a Sub-Saharan Africa resource to the university, working closely with divisions and leadership of vice-presidential portfolios.
Essential Qualifications:
• Master's degree, in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum seven (7) years of relevant experience in learning and development; monitoring and evaluation; international relations, strategic community development, stakeholder relations, program planning and development within a post-secondary environment, with a successful record of: enhancing brand and reputation; international partnership development; and project management.
• Demonstrated experience presenting recommendations through compelling business cases.
• Excellent interpersonal and intercultural skills.
• Strong and proven political acuity and ability to navigate complex relationships
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Superior organisational skills with strong technical abilities.
• Excellent learning designer and facilitator, focused on learning outcomes.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision in the absence of precedents and to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work effectively in teams and to develop strong working relationships with students, faculty, staff, employers and other community members.
