JOB DETAILS:
Lead Researcher

The Role
We are looking for an experienced Lead Researcher to operate in a cross-functional product development “squad”, working closely with a product manager, product designer, and software engineers. By regularly seeking feedback and sharing/co-creating insights with the squad, you’ll keep them engaged and close to our users. You prefer “done over perfect” and find creative solutions for quickly getting insights from users in rural areas. You have experience in working in a startup environment and delivering actionable insights that help teams make informed decisions about what to build. You share research learnings with the whole company, thinking of creative ways to make them connect with our users.
Be a key influencer in product development decision-making
1. Understand the needs of product development “squads” in order to identify and prioritise research questions to answer.
2. Plan, write scripts, organise, conduct and analyse user research, collaborating with squad members.
3. Leverage existing quantitative data when planning research and work closely with data analysts to complement quantitative information with qualitative insights.
4. Contribute actively to squad discussions in order to transform research findings into insights that shape product development priorities and decisions.

Develop the research function within Wefarm
1. Manage and support the career development of one researcher.
2. Develop new research methods and ways of sharing information that allow us to get actionable insights quickly, focusing on “done vs perfect.”
3. Ensure that research insights are shared and used across the business.
4. Collaborate with team members in other functions such as customer service and account management to ensure we are getting product development insights out of these touchpoints.
5. Strong communicator who can bring key research findings to life and make them memorable.
6. Default to collaboration with a “to go far, go together” mentality to bring team members along with you.
7. Comfortable with the rapid pace of decision-making and constantly changing/evolving priorities.
8. Experience managing or mentoring other researchers.
9. A good understanding of the product development decision-making process and how research adds value to that process.
10. Start-up and research in emerging markets experience.
