JOB DETAILS:
Key Responsibilities
• Collaborate with journalists and editors to understand the story concepts and requirements for web interactive graphics;
• Design and develop visually engaging and user-friendly web interactive graphics that enhance storytelling and convey complex information in a clear and concise manner;
• Optimize graphics and web elements for performance, responsiveness, and cross-browser compatibility;
• Collaborate with the development team to integrate the web interactive graphics seamlessly into our content management system (CMS) or other publishing platforms; Conduct regular testing and debugging to ensure the functionality and usability of the web interactive graphics across different devices and browsers;
• Maintain and update existing web interactive graphics as needed; Work closely with the design team to ensure consistency in visual style, branding, and overall user experience across different digital platforms;
• Continuously improve and iterate on the design and user experience of the web interactive graphics based on user feedback and analytics data.
• Conduct research and stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in web design, data visualization, and interactive storytelling;

Qualifications, Experience & skills
• Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or Information Technology from a recognized institution;
• 5 years' experience as a front-end developer or Web Designer, preferably in a newsroom or media organization;
• Experience and knowledge of UX/UI principles and best practices for designing interactive and user-friendly web interfaces;
• Strong proficiency in front-end development technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript;
• Proficiency in using web design and prototyping tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch, or Figma;
• Solid understanding of responsive web design principles and mobile-first development;
• Experience with data visualization libraries and frameworks (e.g., D3.js, Chart.js) is highly desirable;
• Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and ability to integrate designs into existing platforms;
• Strong attention to detail and ability to create pixel-perfect designs that adhere to brand guidelines;
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced newsroom environment with tight deadlines;
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with cross-functional teams, including journalists, editors, and developers.
