Job Purpose
The position holder will be responsible for collecting, testing and analyzing water and wastewater samples to determine the physical, chemical and microbial components.
Operational Responsibilities / Tasks
• Maintain a clean and orderly laboratory, maintain equipment in a clean and properly functioning sate, clean and sterilize glassware and other laboratory equipment.
• Collect samples from plant influent, SBR, secondary influent, effluent, Chemicals/Scum/Screenings/Grit, industrial facilities effluent and other locations as maybe necessary.
• Prepare solutions and reagents in accordance with SOP’s and calibrate each equipment before daily use and record the information.
• Carry out the following analysis on samples; TSS, VSS, Temperature, Ph, BOD, COD, Specific weight, volume, weight, Chemical consumption, residual chlorine, fecal coliform and any other analysis as maybe necessary.
• Organizes and carries out quarterly testing for waste water quality control tests.
• Reading and recording results of tests carried out, maintaining records and report to the supervisor.
• Reviews test results for accuracy, consistency and validity.
• Reviews and maintain files of mandated testing procedures, reviews and implements testing or procedure changes as required.
• Maintain and track inventory, maintain accurate records, order supplies for the laboratory.
• Performance of other relevant duties assigned.
Academic Qualifications
• Diploma holder in chemical science, physical sciences or biological sciences
• Professional Qualifications / Membership to professional bodies
• Computer literate
• Meets the Requirement of Chapter Six of the Constitution
Previous relevant work experience required.

Successful candidates will be expected to fulfil the requirement of Chapter Six of the Constitution by providing originals of the following documents;
1. Police Clearance Certificate from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations;
2. Clearance/Compliance Certificate from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB);
3. Tax compliance Certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority;
4. Clearance from the Ethics & Anti-corruption Authority (EACC) and
5. Clearance from Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
