Junior Java Developer

Job brief
We are looking for a Java Developer with experience in building high-performing, scalable, enterprise-grade java web applications.
You will be part of a talented software team that works on mission-critical applications.

Roles and Responsibilities
1. Designing, developing and delivering high-volume, low-latency applications for mission-critical systems.
2. Managing Java/Java EE application development while providing expertise in the full software development lifecycle, from concept and design to testing.
3. Develop and enhance software applications through coding and testing.
4. Involves in code reviews and training.
5. Delivers highest quality software by creating unit test plan and testing code thoroughly.
6. Adept with the tools, applications, and processes used for software development (Use of code management tools e.g. Git required)
7. Implements solutions as designed in technical documentation specification and coding standards.
8. Creates project documentations and coordinate technical issues.
9. Reports to a technical lead
10. Able to understand the business rules and concepts, software specifications and designs provided by the technical lead and apply them in completing the assigned task.

Requirements
1. Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering/Information Technology/Engineering (computer/telecommunications)
2. Proven hands-on Software Development experience
3. Proven working experience in Java development
4. Hands on experience in designing and developing applications using Java EE platforms
5. Object Oriented analysis and design using common design patterns.
6. Profound insight of Java and JEE internals (Classloading, Memory Management, Transaction management etc)
7. Excellent knowledge of Relational Databases, SQL and ORM technologies (JPA2, Hibernate)
8. Experience in the Spring Framework
9. Experience as a Sun Certified Java Developer
10. Experience in developing web applications using at least one popular web framework (JSF, Wicket, GWT, Spring MVC)
11. OpenMRS development will be an added advantage
12. Maintain existing applications by fixing any bugs & adding new enhancements
13. Collaborate with other team members/ developers/ system analysts
14. Experience with test-driven development
15. Must display ability to learn in a short time and work under pressure;
16. Must be an excellent team player in a different culture;
