Deputy Executive Director

Overall Purpose of the Job:

To deputise the Executive Director and contribute to the organisation’s strategic direction while working alongside colleagues to ensure programme quality, growth and strong institutional representation. The DED will be required to motivate ICJ Kenya’s diverse staff and manage partnerships, including resource mobilisation, while working closely with the programme and finance teams.

Requirements:

Education and Experience

  1. Master’s Degree in Law or social science.
  2. Be an advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
  3. Possess over 10 years post-admission experience and at least 6 years of senior management, including strategic leadership skills, people management skills, resource mobilisation and networking.
  4. Must possess a deep understanding of development partners, governance context and human rights situation in Kenya and around Africa;
  5. Demonstrable senior management work experience

Skills and Competencies

  1. The candidate should possess strong resource mobilisation and development partner management
  2. The candidate must possess strong organisational capabilities, including providing leadership on programme development, facilitation of tasks, planning and delegation
  3. The candidate must be proactive and possess the skills to coach and motivate a team of professional and support staff to achieve the organisational strategic goals.
  4. The candidate must have the ability to represent ICJ Kenya in a variety of situations from the grassroots to high levels and must possess good diplomatic and communications skills;
  5. Excellent research and writing skills.

 

Programme Manager – Human Rights & Justice

Overall Purpose of the Job:

To work closely with the Senior Management and contribute to developing organisational and programmatic strategic goals and objectives. You will liaise with finance, monitoring and evaluation, communications, administration and the entire programme staff team to create synergy in achieving the programmatic and organisation’s strategic objectives.

Education, Experience and Skills

  • A Master’s Degree in Human Rights.
  • A Bachelor of Laws Degree and advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
  • Over 5 years of experience in Programme management in a human rights NGO with experience in international and regional Human Rights Mechanisms.
  • Excellent Resource Mobilisation, Research and Documentation skills.
  • Excellent Proposal and report writing skills.
  • Research and documentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and Communication skills.
  • Team player, excellent analytical and detail-oriented.
  • Should possess excellent interpersonal and commission skills and be detail oriented.

 

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Officer

Overall Purpose of the Job:

To lead in the monitoring, evaluation, reflection, and internal learning processes of the strategies, projects, and activities within ICJ Kenya and to ensure growth and impact,  to efficiently supervise and monitor project implementation and reporting. Ensuring that results are harvested effectively, and the impact is properly documented while timely decisions on corrective actions are highlighted to management and implemented.

Requirements:

Education and Experience

  • A Master Degree in any social science or equivalent experience is desirable
  • (5 years +) in Monitoring and Evaluation of donor-funded grants and organizational plans/ strategies
  • A Bachelors Degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, or a Social Science.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in Project Management and resource mobilisaiton.
  • Must have at least three years of experience in project monitoring and evaluation.
  • Experience in documentation and impact reporting.

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent Report writing and documentation.
  • Business development knowledge/ experience.
  • Data collection and analysis skills using statistical packages
  • Graphical presentation of data using Power Bi or other software
  • Good Analytical and detail-oriented
  • Documented experience in monitoring and evaluating human rights work.
  • Documented understanding of the programme management cycle
