Resource Mobilization Lead 

Donor cultivation and partnership building 

  • Lead networking and resource mobilization efforts, pursuing opportunities aligned with Akili Dada's institutional growth and sustainability strategy. 
  • Research potential donors to gain insight into values alignment and institutional priorities vis-a-vis Akili Dada's needs and priorities. 
  • Accurately profile Akili Dada's work to various target audiences including donors and funding partners of interest, ensuring the availability of relevant packaged programmatic and impact data 
  • Lead donor cultivation activities, including identifying possible funding partners and initiating relationships with key decision-makers. 
  • Lead all grant writing efforts, presenting solicited and unsolicited proposals to new funding partners. 
  • With input from the Senior Management Team and the Interim Executive Director, lead the identification and development of relationships with non-traditional funders, including but not limited to corporates and bi-lateral organizations who share Akili Dada ideals. 
  • Spearhead fundraising initiatives
  • Leverage technology and social media to improve online giving/fundraising activities. 
  • Take the lead in planning and coordinating events meant to raise funds and coordinate activities of volunteers and  interns related to event planning and execution. 
  • Create resource mobilization materials such as flyers, decks, and brochures to promote events and other fundraising pushes. 
  • Analyze the performance of events and other fundraising activities for effectiveness and identify areas where money can be saved and return on investment. 
  • Collaborate with other organizations and groups within the feminist/women's and girls' rights movement to build partnerships and enhance fundraising activities. 

Donor Management 

  • Maintain complete and orderly records of Akili Dada's partner/donor portfolio and manage regular donor communications. 
  • Produce, develop and deepen individual donor relationships, ensuring that the organization maintains effective communications and good relations with donor partners, ensuring they are updated on our work and achievements and up-to-date reports for staff and management. 
  • Organize donor round tables and develop an understanding of grant cycles and preferences of different donors. 

Requirements

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated track record of grant writing, proposal development, and fundraising. 
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of fundraising in the philanthropy, bi-lateral and corporate space. 
  • Industry knowledge of the education sector and a good understanding of girls' and women's rights. 
  • Versatile fundraiser with demonstrated ability to work with corporates, feminist funders, philanthropists, and bi-laterals. Entrepreneurial, demonstrates solid financial understanding, and can identify and exploit fundraising opportunities. Strong team working orientation, with the ability and social skills to work collaboratively with staff at all levels. 

 

Program Associate

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 
PROGRAM SUPPORT 

  • Coordinate program administrative tasks including but not limited to constituent tracking, communication, and filing.  
  • Contribute to program strategy and design through research and analysis of program generated data and reports.  
  • Represent Akili Dada in networks and movement-facing spaces, amplifying young women’s voices and experiences across different sectors. 
  • Develop program communication plans for discussion with Program Lead and Communications Team before program activities. 
  • Acknowledge receipt of correspondence and documentation in the absence of the Program Lead as required. 

REPORTS & DOCUMENTATION 

  • Liaise with the Program Lead to ensure pre, and post-activity surveys, feedback, and procurement processes are closed within a reasonable time per the Standard Operating Procedures. 
  • With support from the Communications team, document program activities through photography, videography, blogging, and rapporteuring. 
  • In charge of generating and compiling activity reports for consumption by the team.  Ensure Salesforce is constantly updated with relevant and accurate data. 

LOGISTICS 

  • Develop activity calendars and take charge of all logistical arrangements for program activities while adhering to the organization’s procurement procedures. Lead the program event planning as aligns with the Washa program, work plan, and strategy. This includes venue booking and arrangements, equipment needs, meals and refreshments, travel logistics, and managing the invitation and RSVP process. Responsible for ensuring all program activities run on time and are well attended to and managed. 
  • Prepare training kits or information packages with support from Program Lead and Program Staff and send materials to participants promptly. 

BUDGET & ACCOUNTING 

  • Contribute to development activity budgets that will feed into the overall program operational budget 
  • Liaise with Operations Associate to ensure procurement of all program supplies and materials and maintain the availability of all required items while adhering to organization procurement procedures. 
  • Track, reconcile and account for program expenditures and prepare expense reports to maintain accurate account balances. 

MONITORING AND EVALUATION 

  • Provide quality research on girls’ and young women's issues as required and share quality data with the Lead for analysis and reporting purposes. 
  • Document and compile impact stories for the program 
  • Collect activity data and ensure quality database creation to support program monitoring, evaluation, and learning. 

STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT 

  • Liaise with program constituents and maintain positive relations through regular communication. 
  • Carry out constituent tracking, manage the constituent database, and maintain contact with them after the program.

  • What support do you offer in organizing and coordinating program events/activities? Are program activity reports prepared on time and well documented? Is there an up-to-date filing of program documents and salesforce? 
  • Are the procurement procedures followed in all logistical arrangements for program activities? 
  • Is there proper accountability and reports of all program expenditures and activities? Do we have up-to-date profiles and contact lists of all constituents? 
  • Are reports prepared and submitted to finance at a good time? 
  • Can you maintain positive relations with the Program constituents and other partners?

You are a perfect fit for this job if you have: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field from a reputable university. 
  • At least 3 years of experience working with gender/youth development programs Have a working knowledge of M&E. 
  • A heart for girls and young women’s empowerment, and your values align with those of Akili Dada. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Demonstrable organizational and time management skills and attention to detail. Self-driven, energetic, and motivated. 
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills. 
  • The ability to be on top of issues and deliver quality work on time. 
  • Ability to work independently, under pressure, with multiple programs and adhering to strict deadlines. 
  • Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism. 
  • Interpersonal skills, report writing skills, data collection skills, and basic financial skills. Rapporteuring skills. 
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce.
