Mission for Essential Drugs and Supplies (MEDS) is a Christian not-for-profit organization based in Nairobi, Kenya. It is a Registered Trust of Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) and Christian Health Association of Kenya (CHAK). The Organization’s core mandate is being a reliable supply chain for quality and affordable Health Products and Technologies, Quality Assurance and Health Advisory Services. MEDS was established in 1986 and serves clients spread across Kenya and other regions both in Africa and beyond.
Laboratory Assistant
Key responsibilities:
General cleanliness
• Maintain general cleanliness of laboratory, laboratory apparatus and equipment for safe and reliable results
• Managing laundry of laboratory coats and attire
Sample handling
• Maintain and update Laboratory registers for samples and reference standards
• Maintain inventory of laboratory reagents/chemicals and apparatus for accountability
• Receive samples from clients, and assess availability of all the requirements of analysis before logging into the register
• Arrange the received sample store and sample store to ensure accessibility and traceability of samples.
• Prepare samples for disposal and required documentation
Records
• Filing, retrieval and archiving of Laboratory related documents for easy access
• Receive, Maintain and update the sample and standards register, for reference
Job requirements:
• Diploma in Analytical Chemistry any other related course
• At least 3 years’ experience in a pharmaceutical laboratory
Quality Assurance Officer – QMS
Key responsibilities:
• Maintain a quality management system and actively participate in promoting quality compliance activities
• Oversee quality investigations, internal audits and external audits.
• Conduct regular audit procedures, practices, and documents to identify possible weaknesses or risks.
• Ensure all employees are educated on the latest regulations and processes.
• Custodian of Quality Management System documents.
• Manage, review and avail the Standard Operating Procedures in a database.
• Train new and existing staff on the requirements of the quality management system.
• Coordinate Quality Management System Quarterly meetings and prepare reports
Job requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy and Training in Quality Management System from an accredited body
• At least 3 years’ of experience in quality management systems
• Functional skill communication skills, report writing skills, risk management highly organized, interpersonal skills
• Behavioural competencies and attitude: self-driven, dependable and attentive to detail
Administrative Assistant
Key responsibilities:
• Perform secretarial and administrative duties, for the smooth running of the Functions in the Department.
• Organize, manage and coordinate appointments and meetings for the Head of Supply Chain as well as other Managers in the Department
• Compile information and prepare reports for decision-making.
• Attend departmental meetings and take Minutes for retention of discussions.
• Keep custody of records e.g. LPOs, letters etc for easy retrieval.
• Coordinate document movement in the department e.g. LPOs, Requistions, for traceability and timeliness.
• Coordinate Workshops for the Department e.g Formulary Committee
• Attend to queries
Job requirements:
• Diploma in Business Administration and Secretarial Studies
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration is an added advantage
• At least 3 years of work experience in office administration
