Asset Management: We partner with DFIs and other institutional investors to provide fund management services and currently have four funds under management, with a combined fund size of approximately USD 600 million. We specialize in fund management for innovative financial strategies and transactions, managing pioneering funds focused on the African continent. Funds under the Firm’s management may invest in a wide range of instruments including:
• Bonds
• Corporate loans
• Project financing structures
• Subordinated debt instruments
• Equity
Investment Banking: We advise development agencies, multilateral institutions, foundations and organisations on a broad range of financial issues including; instrument/fund structuring for public and private sector actors, themed finance and impact advisory, market scoping and investment evaluations.
We provide tailored advice to clients across various sectors supporting them through every stage of the transaction, from structuring to execution. Our expertise includes advice on equity and debt capital raises, acquisitions, divestments, PPPs, project finance, and investment facilitation. We work with governments and sovereign entities on bond issuances, capital mobilisation, privatisations and debt consolidation and restructuring.
Role:
LHGP Asset Management is currently looking to hire an Investment Analyst Intern, with a “can-do” attitude as well as a desire and willingness to dive in and get their hands dirty. They should be professional, confident, self-motivated and a committed team player.
The main objective of the Investment Analyst Intern will be to assist the Off-Grid Energy Access Fund (OGEF) with the day-to-day operations of the fund. The Investment Analyst Intern will report to the OGEF Fund Manager and will collaborate closely with the Investment Team, other funds, and the wider business. Depending on the performance of the intern and the needs of the business, there may be an opportunity to work across other areas of LHGP Asset Management.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
• Carrying out analysis on OGEF’s existing portfolio, to better understand market trends and OGEF’s portfolio performance
• Assisting during the funds regular reporting cycles to investors, the OGEF investment committee and the European Commission, as well as providing support to increase OGEF’s external communication (Website, LinkedIn etc)
• Providing analysis support during the pre due diligence, memo, due diligence and proposal phases
• Supporting the development of OGEF’s 2022 Portfolio Forecast, including deals the fund expects to close over the next 1-2years, the risk profile of the fund and evidence to support extending the fund life
• Any other support that the Fund Manager may require
Candidate Profile:
The following skills and experience are desirable:
• Able to commit to the full 6-months term and must be authorized to work in Kenya
• Any work experience in Investment Management, Lending, Finance, Business Analytics, or a related area is a major plus
• Bachelors or Masters degree in a related discipline required
• Ability to manage time well and prioritize across competing tasks with an eye on the detail
• Flexible, willing to learn and maintain a dynamic schedule in order to work with people across varying time zones
• Strong organisational, communication and relationship management skills, including the ability to tailor communications to a wide variety of audiences and stakeholders, across multiple cultures
• High level of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel and adept at learning and using technology platforms
• Sound understanding/experience in financial analysis
• High level of integrity and honesty
