JOB DETAILS:

Responsibilities
• Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background; the intern's assigned office as well as the internship period.
• The internship offers an exciting and vibrant learning environment and opportunities for professional growth, through the close linkage between programme development and capacity building, as well as communications. The intern will have the opportunity to contribute to the work of CDTU in the planning, design and development of capacity-building programmes focused on urban sustainability, as well as training materials and content, including in digital form. The intern will also support with partnership management and coordination of the unit’s ongoing projects.
• Under the supervision of the Associate Programme Manager, the intern will:
• Support with planning, developing, implementing, and managing project and programme activities.
• Support with the planning, design, and development of training courses, including e-learning courses to be hosted on UN-Habitat’s online learning platform, UN-Habitat Learn (using tools such as Moodle, Articulate Rise, etc.).
• Assist in the preparation of draft concept notes, background documents, presentations, and any other relevant materials for project development.
• Assist in monitoring and evaluation processes that inform the development of training materials, tools and publications.
• Support with communications tasks to promote UN-Habitat’s capacity-building work, including dissemination of content via social media, websites, and newsletters, as well as design of graphic materials such as icons, graphs, flyers, social media cards, brochures, presentations, etc.
• Support internal and external partnership building and management, such as with other UN-Habitat offices, as well as with external partners in academia/research, training institutions, etc.
• Undertake any other assignments as necessary to support the implementation of the unit’s work programme.

In this internship, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to improve their skills in the following areas:
• Familiarize oneself with the United Nations, UN-Habitat and their capacity-building work.
• Partnership development between UN, governments, academia, NGOs and others.
• Project/programme design, implementation, monitoring, reporting and evaluation.
• Creation of communication materials and content.
• Planning, design and development of training materials, including in a digital format.
• Digital communications via social media, websites and newsletters.
• Online learning platform and software management.
• Responding to requests from member states, donors and partners.
• Additionally, your supervisor will be willing to introduce you to other colleagues at UN-Habitat in whose work you may be interested, for informal ‘informational interviews and networking purposes.

Meets timeline for delivery of products or services to client.

Education
• Applicants must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:
• Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
• Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent).
• Have graduated with Bachelor's degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent.
• Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office).
• Have demonstrated a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
• Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes a willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
