POSITION- ICT Officer I-ICT Security (JSG 5)
Job Reference Number: V/No.15/2022

Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable
Gross Salary Scale: Kshs. 104,300 – 131,100 p.m
Job Purpose:
The job holder will be responsible for developing, deploying and maintaining key ICT Security architecture and infrastructure to ensure all online services are secured.
Reporting Responsibilities:
The job holder is responsible to the Senior ICT Officer
Area of Deployment: Directorate of ICT
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
i. Conducting research and development/security intelligence on new
areas in security to input to strategy;
ii. Designing cyber security solutions in line with best practices to ensure
deployment of best in class solutions;
iii. Defining cyber security requirements and acceptance criteria for new
systems;
iv. Drafting and evaluating business cases, RFIs/RFPs, conduct proof of
concepts, technical evaluations;
v. Lead in testing, implementation, deployment and commissioning of new
solutions;
vi. Recommending major security upgrades where required and work with
the operations team to implement;
vii. Scheduling for all security programs to be continually improved to
maximize their returns/benefits;
viii. Conducting knowledge transfer to other team members/staff on new or
topical areas;
ix. Regularly recommending and applying system security updates and
patches;
x. Detection of systems security breaches and prevention of their
recurrence;
xi. Undertaking research for ICT security solutions for Business functions;
and
xii. Supervising, mentoring and nurturing staff under supervision.
Job Requirements: Academic and Professional Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, the applicant must have: –
i. A Bachelor of Science degree in any of the following fields: Computer
Science, Computer Technology, Informatics, Computer Science &
Technology, Information Systems, Business Information Technology
(BBIT), Computing Science and Technology, Computer Security and
Forensics or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
ii. Possess at least one (1) Professional certifications in CEH, CHIF, CISSP
or equivalent;
iii. A Management course or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
and
iv. Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Experience:
i. A minimum three (3) years relevant work–experience with at least one
(1) year at Supervisory Level.
ii. Knowledge/experience working on Vulnerability Management, Threat
Intelligence, Python/PHP, bash scripting and/or PowerShell,
Penetration Testing, etc. is imperative.
iii. Deployment of Cisco and/or Fortinet security solution will be an added
advantage

Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit valid clearance certificates from the following bodies during the interview: –
• Kenya Revenue Authority
• Higher Education Loans Board
• Directorate of Criminal Investigation
• Ethics and Anti–Corruption Commission
• A recognized Credit Reference Bureau
• Recommendation from the relevant Professional Body, as the case may be, as being in Good Standing
• Advocates Complaints Commission
• Law Society of Kenya
