Amboseli Institute is a Private Hospitality and Tourism Tertiary Institute accredited by the Kenyan Ministry of Education.
Our main Campus is located in Thika town, about 40 km and an hour’s drive from Kenya’s Capital City Nairobi. Our other campus is located off Nakuru – Nairobi Highway at the heart of The Rift Valley.

Job Summary
To offer support in the various HR functions, which include recruitment and selection, staffing, training and development, performance management and employee counseling. To advise management and staff on human resource related issues as well as assist in development and coordination of policies and procedures reflective of the business needs.
Duties for the Human Resource Manager Job


The job holder’s duties and responsibilities are outlined as follows:

  • Ensure the development and implementation of the human resource strategies, policies and procedures to achieve the overall corporate strategy by engaging staff and ensuring compliance of the same.
  • Engage in handling inquiries regarding company personnel policies, benefits, and procedures to employees.
  • Ensure employee records are maintained and kept up to date.
  • Management of staff database including regularly updating staff details, addition of new employees and record exiting employees.
  • Leave management including processing of leave applications, sending monthly updates to the HoDs, recording new enrolments and recording off days for the Administration team (cooks, matron and security).
  • Coordinate staff recruitment and selection process in order to ensure a timely, organized and comprehensive procedure is used to hire staff and that all employees are engaged on legally binding terms.
  • Together with the Departmental Heads, ensure employee attendance is managed in line with company policy.
  • Regular review of human resource systems (recruitment, performance management, reward and recognition, training and development (self and corporate), grievance handling and disciplinary procedures).
  • Maintain day-to-day financial control of the human resources department within the budget agreed by the Directors.
  • Act upon any potential and/or significant non- compliance with laws or regulations or other issues, which may have financial or other implications.
  • Compile and send the necessary reports as per the agreed schedules.
  • Participates in the Health & safety and staff welfare committees
  • Conducts periodic surveys to measure employee satisfaction and employee engagements.
  • Reviews, guides and approves Management recommendations for employment terminations
  • Manages employees communication & feedback through meetings, newsletters, focus groups and one on one meetings.
  • Participates in the establishment of the company wage & salary structure, pay policies and oversees the variable pay systems within the company including bonuses and raises.
  • Assists with the administration of staff insurance, Medical cover, personal accident cover, student personal accident cover, pension among other outlined benefits.


Human Resource Manager Job Qualifications
The job holder must possess:

  • A degree in Human Resource Management, Social Science or related field.
  • A Higher National diploma in Human Resource Management from a recognized institution
  • Must be a member of the Institute of Human Resource Management;
  • At least four (4) years relevant experience in Human Resource functions;
  • A high degree of initiative, diligence, confidentiality and attention to detail;
  • Computer literacy (Word, Excel and Power Point);
  • Interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills;
  • Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labour relations and negotiation and personnel information systems
