JOB SUMMARY - PURPOSE
To ensure that the Health &Safety requirements are met, at the site and ensuring employees safety is met. .

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Oversee/provide a first aid facilities, ensuring there is a first aid area (kept clear), first aid stocks/facilities are kept clear
• Ensure safety to public, site visitors and staff on site at all times, ensuring that preventative measures are taken, including personal protection, following safety instructions and following all aspects of the health and safety proposal for the site.
• Maintain security of completed works, perimeter barriers, stored materials and plant, at all times during the project
• Supervise and manage all site based operatives, overseeing all aspects of their work, to include; carrying out safety inductions; tool box talks; controlling quality of work; ensuring method statement and order fulfilment; cleanliness & tidiness;
• the use of plant and tools, waste reduction; upkeep of plant and facilities; use of personal protection equipment/wear,
• Establish a health and safety policy
• Set health and safety goals and objectives
• Set a standard of performance and receive information regularly
• Demonstrate a visible commitment to health and safety
• Communicate expectations for health and safety to workers
• Ensure operations are compliant with applicable legislation
• Provide adequate supervision and resources
• Ensure incidents are reported and investigated, and that corrective actions are taken
• Indentify training needs and ensure proper training of workers
• Correct unsafe acts or conditions
• Communicate expectations for health and safety to workers
• Ensure operations are compliant with applicable legislation
• Enforce health and safety standards
• Any other duty assigned to you by your supervisor from time to time.


Competencies/Abilities/Skills Required
• Must be proficient in the use of computer to prepare reports using Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel
• Excellent working knowledge of construction scheduling and outage planning.
• Must be able to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
• Must be able to easily move around active construction site safely and effectively.
• Must have highly-effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent team leader/player with exceptional interpersonal skills to deliver results
• Must have proven problem-solving skills.
• Supervisory skills


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
(The knowledge, skills and abilities may be acquired through a combination of formal schooling, self-education, prior experience, or on-the-job training)
Level of Education/Academic Qualification
• Degree in Health& safety Management or its equivalent
Specialized Training/Professional Qualifications
• Diploma in Health &safety Management


Relevant Work Experience
• At least three (2) years relevant experience in a reputable construction organization

The jobholder may be required to work long and odd hours, sometimes working over the weekends and public holidays mostly outside the office inspecting works on site.
