DHL Global Forwarding Kenya has an opening for a Head of Ocean Freight where you will manage, control and develop the Ocean Freight (OFR) business activities in the area in accordance with the group business strategy and local business environment to deliver maximum profit and optimize business assets and human resources and achieving EAC targets for OFR as per budgets in the country. In this Head of Ocean Freight position
• You will identify and develop potential, sustainable customer relationships.
• You will respond to customer enquiries / complaints.
• You will lead in engagements and strategic customer interfaces with Key Account Contacts.
• You will provide leadership in the areas of product and business development, resource utilization, Country organization and activities.
• You will support and co-ordinate the development, implementation and localization of key initiatives and programs.
• You will facilitate and support country’s efforts in maintaining healthy relationships with trade bodies and government agencies & authorities, including being an active subscriber or participant of global research agencies.
• You will establish KPI’s and obtain agreement & commitment from Country management.
• You will provide guidelines and support for the implementation of programs such as security regulation to meet country mandated regulatory requirements.
• You will carry out contact/negotiation (OFR) according to corporate policy and local
requirements.
• You will carry out contract/relationship and performance management.
• You will interact with commercial team (at country level) in terms of pricing.
• You will define, implement, monitor, and enforce service and quality standards, in cooperation with product management (in Regional Office).
• You will be responsible for EBIT result at country/country group level OFR.
• You will have full P & L responsibility for OFR and ensure OFR delivers to agreed budget.
• You will ensure OFR compliance with industry and internal DGF policies and standards.
• You will be participating in customer solutions development and implementation of new accounts.
• You will ensure OFR is optimal resourced to meet service standards.
• You will visit customers to maintain customer relationships, research customer needs and monitor customer satisfaction.
• You will maintain relationships with suppliers and manage supplier performance.
• You will monitor the OFR, customer and shipment profitability.
• You will oversee and assist with estimates and RFQs/tenders.
• You will ensure timely processing of invoices in line with DGF financial controls.
• You will ensure continuous improvement by implementing First Choice, Station Improvements, and adherence to quality policies.
• You will grow OFR revenue and market share in collaboration with sales and OFR product.
• You will produce weekly, monthly reports and other ad-hoc reports as maybe required by management.
• You will determine organization’s structure, roles and responsibility and performance targets for the function.
• You will develop a culture of quality, service excellence (for internal customers), flexibility and cost consciousness.
• You will develop a team spirit and multitasking capabilities within the team.
• You will plan, organize and direct an efficient and effective function.
• You will develop KPI’s with team members and monitor individual performance.
• You will conduct performance appraisal, including coaching.
• You will manage the allocation of appropriate resources and commitment of staff to the achievement of Global, Regional and Country objectives and targets.
• You will identify training needs and opportunities to develop a highly skilled functional department.

Now, Here’s What We Need From You
• Degree in Business Management or related field
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the Logistics Industry
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as Ocean Freight Manager in a reputed organization

Work Hours: 8


Experience in Months: 60

Level of Education:
Bachelor Degree
