JOB DETAILS:
Head of Marketing Unit

Specific roles include: -
Marketing operations
• Supervise marketing staff conduct and performance by ensuring company rules and regulations are adhered to.
• Oversight of marketing staff work plans
• Ensure proper management and safety of company assets allocated
• Plan and manage marketing calendar and budget
• Report marketing results to management

Partnerships, media and advertising
• Manage partnerships with stakeholders including tourism partners, travel agencies, local and national government agencies etc.
• Develop all global strategic and tactical marketing drives and plans.
• Design and execute marketing/media plans that include print, online, video, trade shows, and social networking opportunities.
• Conceptualize and write branded advertising campaigns.
• Conduct market research to identify effective promotional methods and negotiate media contracts.
• Study new media opportunities (print, exhibitions, online, advertorials).
• Ensure all advertisements are directed to the appropriate channels.
• Oversee management of printers and other vendors.
• Engage partners in co-marketing the conservancy and products.
• Working with Sales and Tourism Operations to formulate, direct and coordinate marketing activities and policies to promote products and services.
• Keep abreast of current global affairs, the news agenda’s and maintain strong relationships across the media industry;
• Create and maintain a favorable public image for Ol Pejeta by communicating programs, accomplishments and/or points of view;
• Help develop, update and manage a diverse list of local and global journalists and media contacts with a particular interest in conservation and community development;
• Leverage media relations and publications to drive greater PR value and fundraising for the organization;
• Field media questions, develop and pitch stories to the media;
• Prepare media kits and assist in organizing press conferences both in Kenya and in the UK;
• Risk management of negative publicity, crisis management and emergency communications;
• Manage film crews, including due diligence processes, contract development and negotiations;
• Work with the Head of Voluntary Funding and Communications and team members to leverage the engagement power of influencers to create greater awareness, promote our mission and grow our supporter base.

Brand Management
• Keep the suite of brand materials updated and relevant for both internal and external use and working across all departments to act as the champion of the brand;
• Regularly train relevant staff on use and ensure good understanding of how to use the brand guidelines;
• Ensure adherence to brand guidelines across the organization;
• Conduct a needs assessment of communications and brand materials for the organization and support the implementation of creating identified materials;
• Lead on brand awareness initiatives, including the research and creation of public-facing documents and identifying partnership opportunities;
• Lead on developing materials and content that help promote and create greater awareness of the Brand globally;
• Create and maintain templates for brand materials used for external and internal use such as logos, presentation slides, funding proposals, letterhead, business cards, etc;
• Ensure the delivery of consistent messaging and brand management throughout all external and internal communications, brand material and collateral;
• Work with the Head of Voluntary Funding and Communications to deliver the Global Ambassador programme.

Web
• Manage and write the content for the company website and subsidiary sites.
• Ensure all content is current, dynamic, and relevant, meeting specific audience needs.
• Write, execute, and deploy email marketing campaigns and web content.
• Strategize, develop and oversee the production of video content for the website and social media.
• Review web analytics and ad words campaigns on an ongoing basis and generate monthly reports regarding site traffic.

Design
• Use existing templates and develop new ones to create designs and layouts;
• Support and oversee activities including the creation of computer graphics, web page graphics, logos, illustrations, advertisements and brochures;
• Develop, update, and upkeep design templates and resources;
• Support and oversee the creation of print or electronic media;
• Using color, type, illustration, photography, animation, and other
• Various techniques.

Events
• Oversee the coordination and organization of all trade show arrangements.
• Write and conceptualize advertorials in addition to getting them published.
• Manage social media campaigns.

The person
To be successful in this role, applicants should have the following:-
• University degree in Marketing or related field.
• Over 5 years of experience in marketing and media.
• Deep understanding of digital media.
• Proven experience delivering effective and innovative digital campaigns.
• Proven experience delivering a variety of digital assets, including rich media online ads, micro sites, and social media applications.
• Experience managing successful social media campaigns, and a solid understanding of social marketing.
• Solid understanding of web metrics, digital analytics, with the ability to generate, analyze and interpret data.
• Experience in the conservation and tourism space is an added advantage.
• Must be able to work under constant deadline pressure and manage multiple projects across multiple lines of business.
• Strong management skills, excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experience delivering digital campaigns for mainstream products and services
• Proficient in Adobe Suite including Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator, lnDesign and Premiere, WordPress, HTML, HTML 5, CSS
