Aga Khan Education Service (AKES) comprises a network of over 200 schools, more than 100 non-formal education programme centres, and seven hostels, serving over 96,000 students from the age of 18 months to adulthood each year, with the support of over 6.400 teachers and staff. The agency currently operates across 12 countries in East Africa. South, and Central Asia, and the Middle East.
Aga Khan Education Service. Kenya (AKES. Kenya) operates 11 schools in Nairobi. Mombasa. Kisumu. and Eldoret ranging from nursery to senior secondary education in both the national and international curricula. It is part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), a group of private development agencies working to Improve living conditions and opportunities for people of all faiths and origins in specific regions of the developing world.
AKES. Kenya has an opening for the following position-

Head of Academics
Based in Nairobi, Kenya, and reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and the AKES Global Head of Academic Programs, the incumbent will be a key member of the Senior Leadership team responsible for supporting school leaders, providing programmatic and instructional leadership for the quality of teaching and learning, improvement of processes and driving the change agenda to raise the profile and performance of the schools and programmes to improve student achievement To this extent, the Head of Academics will:

• Lead the development and realisation of a shared vision of good teaching and learning in all schools.
• Review the academic policies, procedures and school operations in place at the schools.
• Assess the capacities, skills, and competencies of all Headteachers and develop and implement differentiated development plans to enhance their capacity on an ongoing basis.
• Support school leaders to implement safeguarding policy and practices across all schools.
• Lead the realisation of the AKES Quality Standards for Schools at the national curriculum schools
• Guide the rigorous implementation of the new Kenyan Competency-Based Curriculum at the national curriculum schools
• Lead the enhancement of student achievements and outcomes at the national curriculum schools.
• Guide the development of appropriate strategic and programme development for the IB school.
• Drive the development of comprehensive School improvement Plans.
• Drive the student Teaching and Learning Support and education technology plans.
• Manage internal & external stakeholder engagement and relationships
• Line manage school leaders as required.

The preferred candidate will have:
• Master’s or higher degree in Education or a related field
• At least 5 years of experience in successfully managing and leading K-12 schools as Head of Academics/Education, Academic Director/Principal/Head of School
• Experience with the IB curriculum, as well as other national/international curricula
• Experience in mentoring and supervision of senior school leaders
• Understanding of effective frameworks for school improvement planning and self-evaluation
• Ability to work tn partnership with and influence school staff, students, parents, and other stakeholders
• An understanding of budgeting development and management
