Background and context:
Faith to Action Network is a global interfaith network of more than 100 Bahai, Buddhist, Christian, Confucian, Hindu and Muslim faith organizations; we focus on issues that faith actors are grappling with, including sexual and reproductive health and family planning; gender equality and women’s rights; pluralism and understanding. We combine innovative, evidence- and faith-backed community-based programming with national, regional and international dialogue and advocacy to influence change at all levels.

Purpose of the role:
Faith to Action Network seeks to recruit a Gender Justice technical lead to manage and provide technical support to Faith to Action Network’s women’s rights and gender justice projects for a period of 5 months.
The Gender technical lead will be responsible for programmatic and financial management of Faith to Action Network’s women’s rights projects including providing technical, programmatic and administrative assistance to Faith to Action Network implementing partners and members on women’s rights and gender justice. S/he will contribute to strengthening partnership and knowledge networks within and outside Faith to Action Network.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
Technical leadership in women’s rights and gender justice
• Provide direct technical assistance and guidance on women’s rights and gender justice to the women rights and gender justice program and its delivery partners.
• Support the development of innovative tools and approaches that facilitate the realization of women’s rights and gender equality as required by the projects.
• Lead, coordinate, support, and/or conduct women’s rights, gender justice and social inclusion analysis, evaluations and needs assessments as required by the projects.
• Support implementing partners and members to understand the role of women’s rights, gender justice and women’s empowerment for project outcomes.
• Facilitate and support a strong learning and knowledge sharing community around gender-transformative practices amongst implementing partners and members.
• Build the capacity of implementing partners and members on gender mainstreaming and women’s rights through remote and in-country technical assistance and training.
• Gather learnings from the global women’s rights, gender justice and women’s empowerment fields and cascade information to implementing partners and members.
• Manage the technical relationship with external women’s rights and gender justice project partners, alongside the Programme Manager.
• Support implementing partners, members and Faith to Action Network secretariat as necessary in advocacy and communication around women’s rights and gender-related topics for external stakeholders – government, partners, etc.
• Serve as a technical resource for gender mainstreaming and gender equality best practices.

Donor relations management
• Review and provide timely technical feedback on project results, reports, and other deliverables to various stakeholders.
• Support resource mobilization strategies as appropriate, providing technical input or leading the development of proposals related to gender and women’s empowerment.
• Support ongoing donor relationship management at a global and national level.

Project management:
• Plan, monitor, evaluate and report on the women’s rights and gender justice programmes.
• Write and format results-based donor reports.
• Manage stakeholder engagement, providing guidance to implementing partners and facilitating resolution of issues and initiating corrective action as appropriate.
• Participate in project governance meetings and effectively represent Faith to Action Network in technical working groups, meetings, and other forums.
• Coordinate communication with all partners implementing women rights and gender justice projects.
• Identify and document lessons learned from the women rights and gender justice projects.

Financial management and grants management:
• Manage project finances and collaborate with the finance team in implementation and tracking of Faith to Action Network’s and partner budgets, cashflow plans, and development of variation reports.
• Develop, supervise and track Faith to Action Network and partners’ workplans and budgets.
• Manage grants to partners by ensuring timely disbursements of funds and adherence to agreed activities and objectives in the signed agreements, and enforce partners’ accountability.
• Manage compliance with donor rules and regulations of Faith to Action Network and all partners, pre-empt problems, and advise senior management on solutions and recommendations.

Monitoring and evaluation
• Apply a monitoring and evaluation plan including processes and tools adapted to advocacy, capacity strengthening and gender mainstreaming.
• Monitor implementation of activities and data collected by implementing partners.

Other
• Demonstrate effective communication skills to develop written and oral program materials.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with all members of staff, and contacts within and outside the Network.
• Plan and complete work assignments with a high degree of initiative, good judgment, analytical skill, and integrity.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Programme Manager

Personal Specifications (Candidates must meet basic requirements to be considered for this job.)
Educational background:
Bachelor’s degree in social science, development studies, gender, human rights, law or related field; Master’s degree preferred.

Professional experience
• A minimum of 5 years of experience working on women’s rights, gender justice, women’s empowerment, and/or gender/social inclusion related job.
• Demonstrated experience of working with local partner organizations, managing contacts with key-stakeholders; experience of working with faith actors is desirable.
• Experience with programme planning models, project management, and monitoring systems
• Demonstrated experience providing capacity building and training at individual and organizational levels.
• Proven expertise in designing and implementing strategies and activities related to women’s rights, gender justice, participation and social inclusion, gender-based violence, youth development, strengthening women and girl’s agency and engagement of men and boys in low- and middle-income countries.
• Proven expertise in managing women’s rights and gender-related and/or youth programs and working with women rights organisations, women-led organisations and youth-led organisations, including gender training and capacity building in developing countries and in fragile settings.
• Extensive experience conducting women’s rights, gender, youth, and social inclusion analysis, developing integration tools and methodologies, planning and implementing studies, interpreting qualitative and quantitative data, and knowledge of internationally recognized evidence-based interventions to promote women’s rights, gender justice and women’s empowerment.

Skills and Competencies
• Demonstrated strong project cycle management skills including monitoring and evaluation, budgeting, controlling, financial and technical reporting;
• Demonstrated ability to identify priority actions, generate and complete work plans within short time frames.
• Demonstrated experience conducting gender assessments and developing gender strategy frameworks.
• Experience collaborating with government agencies, host-country governments and counterparts, and international donor agencies.
