JOB DETAILS:
Our client, is a large and well established international co-educational day school based in Nairobi, following the British National Curriculum (BNC). It incorporates kindergarten, preparatory school, and senior school including A-Level school. Our client is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and qualified person to the position of Finance Manager. .

The Role
Reporting directly to the Executive Director (ED), main responsibilities will involve:
a) Develop and implement sound internal controls for safeguarding of the Company's resources.
b) Develop and implement adequate financial policies, and review the policies annually to ensure they remain relevant and aligned to the prevailing business and professional environment.
c) Ensure proper cash flow management that enables the Company to collect debts and settle its obligations when they fall due.
d) Proper management of financial resources to ensure financial soundness of the business.
e) Sourcing for credit at competitive rates and investment of surplus cash to ensure optimal returns.
f) Oversee the procurement process and develop cost control programmes to ensure all Company purchases are at competitive prices.
g) Develop tax planning programmes to ensure optimisation of the Company's tax cost.
h) Co-ordinate, review, challenge, and consolidate departmental budgets and budgetary controls.
i) Prepare timely, accurate, and reliable monthly reports on the Company's financial performance for management meetings.
j) Prepare challenging and realistic annual departmental plans that can be translated in to the department's financial budgets.
k) Ensure compliance on withholding tax, VAT, PAYE, NHIF, NSSF, NITA, HELB, company returns, and any other relevant statutory requirements.
I) Review and implementation of the department's information technology programmes that will ensure efficient delivery of services.
m) Develop and implement financial risk management programmes that will ensure minimisation of losses that may arise from the risks.
n) Ensure other departments see value in the finance department through cooperation and support to the departments.
o) Develop and motivate staff in the department.
p) Maintain membership and actively participate in the activities of a recognised professional institution that will enhance skills and knowledge on finance related matters.
q) Prepare finance board papers for quarterly board meetings.
r) Assist the ED on any other financial related matters.


The Person
The individual will be hardworking, possess good work ethics, presentable, team player, with good communication, and interpersonal skills. He/she must also possess a good understanding of operational and commercial management. Knowledge and experience in the education sector will be an added advantage. High integrity, agility, ability to use discretion, attention to details, flexibility, and being a self-starter will be essential.


Requisite Qualifications
• Fully qualified CPA(K) or ACCA with over 10 years working experience in a similar position, or the role of a financial accountant or management accountant in a large and busy environment.
• A university degree in an economic field.
• A member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) in good standing.
• Computer literacy, especially on Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and MS Excel.
• Skills and training in soft skills such as delegation and supervision; planning and prioritising; and time management.
• Over 35 years of age.
