CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR THE POSITION OF FAECAL SLUDGE MANAGEMENT (FSM) COORDINATOR
Purpose of Position Deliver MAWASCO's On-site Sanitation Strategy: Business Planning and Budgeting Commercial, Operational and Financial Performance; and Development of MAWASCO FSM Team Lead in the successful implementation of an effective and sustainable market based urban sanitation chain development and implementation in low.income settlements of Malindi Municipality. The FSM Coordinator will play a key role in market development of new innovative and affordable on-site sanitation products and services mainly targeting small and medium sized enterprises, triggering consumer investment at household plot love and advocating policy reform at the county and national level.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
• Lead in delivery of the Malindi on-site sanitation strategy as outlined in the (City-wide inclusive Sanitation) CWIS plan and engage with stakeholders to communicate the strategy and coordinate activities
• Lead in development of market demand and supply for FSM related products and services for urban hotspots and low income areas of the municipality
• Identify and support capacity development of small enterprises in provision of sanitation products and services Supply chain in new facilities, sales, construction, upgrading and faecal sludge management.
• Prepare and gain approval for annual business plans, budgets and support in development of strategic Sanitation financing plans for the municipality
• Support quality assurance for all sanitation and hygiene infrastructure design, construction and maintenance elements in accordance to the programme standards and routinely suggest improvements to ensure al quality standards and delivery within budgets
• Ensure that customer satisfaction, timely resolution of customer complaints, value for money and catering for emerging customers' needs are driving principles and key metrics for FSM team including contractors
• Maintain high level engagement with service consultants and contractors, ensure high levels of performance through equitable risk allocation and performance management, business development supports and periodic review and upgrading al procurement strategies, contract terms and conditions to achieve higher levels of performance.
• Lead In continuing development and promotion of innovative and alternative sanitation technologies in accordance to local context to or sure market satiety and easy replication
• Ensure that the health, safety and environmental performance of the entire FSM service chain complies with or exceeds national standards
Minimum Requirements
The ideal holder will have the following qualifications
• A Bachelor's Degree in commerce/business administrator finance, urban planning, civil or environmental health engineering. Master's Degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage
• At least 5 years of demonstrable competence and experience in market-based sanitation approaches in a city or big town
• Sound understanding of the urban water and sanitation sector in Kenya and the region
• Demonstrable knowledge of public utility sanitation operations
Required Skills and Competencies
• A team player, driven by own initiative, good communicator and have ability to work under minimum supervision
• Good written and spoken English, proficiency in Swahili and with ability to present opinions in a clear and concise manner
• Strong technical skills especially in sanitation and hygiene technologies
• Good report writing skills and proficiency in MS Office suite.
