Director of Trade and Industry

Job Requirements
• Served in the grade of Deputy Director of Trade and Enterprise development for a minimum period of three (3) years;
• Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Agricultural Economics, Mathematics, biological/physical sciences, Entrepreneurship, project planning and management or Statistics Economics from a recognized university
• Master’s Degree in any of the following disciplines:- Commerce, Marketing, , Business Management, Business and Information Technology, Entrepreneurship, Trade Law, Economics or International Trade/Business/Relations from a recognized institution
• Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution;
• Certificate in Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized
• Demonstrated professional competence ,managerial and administrative capability in work performance and results ; and
• Demonstrated a thorough understanding of national goals, policies and development objectives and the ability to translate them into trade and industrial development programmes/projects

Job Description
• Formulating and implementing of Trade and industrial development policies;
• Establishing and coordinate effective and efficient management of implementation of Trade and industrialization strategies, programs and projects
• Providing a conducive business environment for the trade and industrial investments
• Analyzing trade and industrial policy and the impact of regulatory instruments on the business environment
• Establishing linkages of Micro and Small Enterprises/Industries (MSE/I); to affordable financing, access to efficient and cleaner production technology, linkages to suppliers, medium and large industries
• Coordinating the provision of advisory and mentoring programs to potential and existing entrepreneurs
• Directing policies, strategies and programmes on e-commerce and overseeing establishment of business information and solution centres
• Overseeing trade and investment promotion activities through trade fairs and exhibitions; facilitating the growth, development and graduation of Micro, Small and Medium enterprises (MSMEs);
• Overseeing formalization of value chain to increase efficiency in trade and industrialization;
• Coordinating Trade and industrial research and development , market intelligence, innovation and technology transfer in liaison with Research and Development stakeholders
• Assessing the impact of intra, inter county, regional and international trade policies on trade and investment activities;
• Overseeing Business development Services, training, capacity building and extension services; and providing consultancy services on trade and industrialization issues.
