About the Role
The Director of Business Operations will ensure that BFA Global successfully manages its ongoing business, having headquarters in the US and offices in Kenya and Colombia as well as staff in a dozen countries globally (including Spain, France, Mexico, Nigeria and Germany). The Director of Business Operations will also ensure that BFA Global is able to smoothly grow as we take on new challenges and opportunities.
Under the supervision of the CEO, the Director of Business Operations will be part of the Management Team.
Roles and responsibilities
• The Director of Business Operations is responsible for the smooth running of the company including supervising all back-end functions such as HR, finance, administration and the project management unit. The Heads of these units will report directly to the Director of Business Operations; they will also have an indirect or dotted-line relationship to the CEO.
• The Director of Business Operations will develop and own an annual performance mandate and budget, and monitor adherence, addressing any issues.
• The Director of Business Operations will contribute to strategic discussions around the growth and sustainability objectives of the company and will ensure that we are able to meet those objectives. They will be responsible for translating strategic decisions into tangible, executable plans across business functions.
• The Director of Business Operations will be responsible for ensuring that all back-end teams take a service oriented approach to dealing with the rest of the company; and that they are solution-oriented, aiming towards continuous improvement of all back-end operations and metrics. They must be detail-oriented and eagle-eyed.
• They will ensure strategic objectives are met, including the creation of new business units, the development of employee career paths, and operational and profitability objectives.
• The Director of Business Operations will directly undertake general business administration general business administration along with their team, such managing office leases, software services contracts, travel and safety and other administrative tasks. They will supervise the process of BFA Global’s contracting with clients, partners and subcontractors.
• They will ensure that BFA Global is in compliance with local and international laws and regulations. They will own the relationships with company lawyers, and other strategic service providers.
• They will ensure the motivation and high performance of all back-end functions and teams.
• They will address and resolve issues as they arise, reducing the overhead on the rest of the Management Team.

• Adaptability & flexibility – You need to be agile and adaptable to effectively deal with the rapid changes (both financial and technological) occurring in the industry.
Qualifications
Education: Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business or public administration, social sciences, economics or related areas. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted instead of an advanced university degree.
Experience: A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience, with at least 5 years in an international organization. Previous experience as a General Manager or Chief Operating Officer in a small multinational like BFA Global would be preferred.
Language: Excellent command of both written and spoken English is required. Knowledge of other languages is desirable (Spanish especially).
Anticipated Start Date: Immediate
Preferred location: The full-time position will be based in a country of BFA’s operations and preferably the UK, Spain or Kenya. Candidates need to have valid work permits. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
