Position: Digital Technology Project Manager
Reporting to: Head of Digital Technology Team
Location: Nairobi
Starting Salary: Competitive salary commensurate with experience, plus benefits

Purpose

• The Digital Technology Project Manager will be responsible for coordinating a portfolio of software development projects across Development Pathways. This will entail close monitoring of software projects across the life cycle from inception to delivery. It also requires engagement with consultants and clients to manage scope and ensure understanding of the strategy of the delivery and resolution of complex digital technology project issues.

Responsibilities

• To oversee the operational delivery across a range of digital technology projects:

• Ensure the delivery of projects within their agreed timeline, budget, scope and to high quality
• Ensure all project procedures, administration and systems are functioning and effective
• Oversee the financial management of projects, including forecasting, and regular reporting
• Ensure strong management of project documentation and support project reporting;
• Help build strong and productive relations with consultants, clients and partner organisations
• Ensure that consultants are given effective support and develop a strong allegiance to Development Pathways
• Oversee risk management for the projects in portfolio
• Provide oversight and support to field operations teams across projects
• Undertake risk management of assigned projects
• Contributing to the establishment of new and improved project management processes, policies and procedures, and
• Effective line management, advice, support, professional development, and mentorship to Project Officers.

Person Specification

Required:

• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Science, or related degree
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working in a busy IT environment with a strong focus on software development or consultancy services
• Five (5) years of experience in project management, operations and administrative management, within the IT industry, with hands-on expertise implementing at least 5 major software development projects
• Experienced in using languages such as C# or PHP and frameworks such as Laravel and ASP.Net Core
• Experience in full project life cycle from inception through closure
• Experience managing a minimum of three (3) projects for government agencies in developing countries
• Proficient in managing end-to-end project delivery including setting critical success factors
• Able to design test scripts and user journeys with demonstrable experience in end-to-end delivery of Waterfall and Agile projects
• Clear experience of managing and tracking SIT (system integrity testing)
• Excellent knowledge of technical management, information system analysis and of computer hardware/software systems
• Two (2) years of experience in managing individuals and teams
• Excellent interpersonal, time management and communications skills
• Ability to take initiative and work independently
• A high-level of attention to detail
• Technologically savvy and highly proficient with Microsoft office suite
• Professional fluency in written and spoken English, and
• A commitment to social justice, gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Desirable:

• PRINCE2, PMP or another project management qualification desirable;
• Master’s degree;
• Proficiency in another language; and
• Experience of international development.
