JOB DETAILS:
REF: TUR/CPSB/058/2022/2023: DEPUTY DIRECTOR ROADS (PRINCIPAL SUPERINTENDING ENGINEER - STRUCTURAL, JOB GROUP ‘Q’, ONE (1) POST
• Deputizing the Senior Principal Superintending Engineer (Structural) and assist on all activities of the Division related to roads.

Duties and responsibilities: -
• Dealing with structural design;
• Detailing and supervision of County Government buildings, hospital, schools, housing estates and other structures in different materials and various forms of construction;
• Distribution of the workload and supervision of execution;
• Liaison with Architects and client County Ministries on problems connected with projects under the departments and also checking and monitoring work produced by consulting engineers;
• In charge of design team dealing with design detailing, preparation of the specifications, bill of quantities, supervision and maintenance of all civil works which include the sewerage disposal scheme, surface water disposals, roads, parking areas, paved areas for the Government buildings, prisons, schools, hospital and military establishments;
• Distribution of workload and supervision of execution;
• Liaison with Architects and client County Ministries on problems connected with projects under the department;
• Checking and monitoring work produced by the consulting engineers;
• Co-ordination of planning and execution of the projects under the ministry of water development and local authorities;
• Checking and certifying payment certificates and other contract documents in liaison with the Architects, Roads Engineers and County Government agencies and advising on all problems involving structural, civil and marine engineering;
• In charge of all Architectural, Engineering and Quantity Surveying services in the County;
• Coordination of design, supervision of contraction and maintenance of public building for research activities, administration and supervision of all staff working under him/her;
• Perform any other assigned from time to time from immediate supervisor

Requirements and competencies for appointment: -
• A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or its equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized Institution;
• Registered with the Engineering Registration Board of Kenya (ERB)
• A current valid annual Practicing from the Engineers Registration Board of Kenya;
• Corporate membership with –the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK)
• Attended a strategic leadership development course lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized Institution; and
• Demonstrated a high degree of professional competence and administrative capacity required for effective planning, direction, control and coordination of structural and civil engineering development programmes.
