Deputy Director, Standard, Assessment & Quality Assurance
Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required:
For appointment to this grade a candidate must have: -
1. Ten (10) relevant work experience eight (8) of which must have been in management;
2. Bachelor’s degree (KNQF Level 7 or equivalent) in Education, Economics, statistics, Social Sciences, Science or related field from a recognized university in Kenya;
3. Master’s Degree (KNQF Level 9)in Curriculum development, quality assurance, assessment and
4. examination, Economics, Statistics, Project Management, Sciences, Social
5. Science, Higher education, Comparative Education or related field from a
6. recognized university in Kenya ;
7. Doctorate Degree (KNQF Level 10)in Curriculum development, quality assurance, assessment and examination, Economics, Statistics, Project Management, Sciences, Social
8. Science, Higher education, Comparative Education or related field from a
9. recognized university in Kenya is an added advantage;
10. Professional qualification and membership where applicable;
11. Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks;
12. Proficiency in computer applications;
13. Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution.

Responsibilities:
Key Duties and Responsibilities;
1. General administration and coordination of the department;
2. Advising the authority on the world best practices on CATS
3. Reviewing regulations, policies and guidelines on assessments, CATs;
4. Developing and reviewing quality assurance standards;
5. Recruit and facilitate the training of assessments, CATS and QA peer reviewers;
6. Coordinating the assessments and determination of CATs;
7. Liaising with education regulatory bodies, curriculum developers, qualifications
8. awarding bodies and other government ministries and agencies on assessment and
9. credit accumulation and transfer;
10. Guiding, advising and appraising officers under their supervision;
11. Benchmarking and developing best practices in assessment, CATs and QA;
12. Evaluating the application for credits transfer;
13. Conducting the assessment of application for credit transfer;
14. Developing and implementing policies, standards and guidelines on assessment,
15. credit accumulation and transfer and quality assurance;
16. Developing manuals, codes and guidelines on national qualifications;
17. Developing and maintaining the Kenya Credit Accumulation and Transfer System
18. (KCATS);
19. Advising and support any person, body or institution which is responsible for the
20. award of national qualifications;
21. Facilitating linkages, credit transfers and exemptions and a vertical and horizontal
22. mobility at all levels to enable entry, re-entry and exit;
