The Future Africa Forum is an Africa-focused organization, established in 2018, to serve as a platform for dialogue and thought partnership on the issues and trends concerning the future of the continent. The Forum is the public facing expert influence entity of Future Africa Investments Limited. We use our convening power and deep African expertise to facilitate stronger collaboration, coordination and campaigning. In this role, the selected candidate will be working with a community of inspiring change makers and policy experts and will report to the CEO.
Candidate Profile
Future Africa Forum is looking for a communications manager with strong experience in digital content creation who has the ability to strengthen engagement for our digital platforms. The ideal candidate will have a dynamic personality and an ability to build professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders. It is important that they are a strategic thinker, who pays attention to detail and possesses good editing and copywriting skills and is accustomed to working with tight deadlines. We will be particularly interested in candidates who have cross-continental experience in the policy space, and who are passionate about driving positive change in Africa.
Responsibilities
• Accountable for the overall strategy, creation and distribution of content for various channels, including media, website, newsletters, blogs, social media and various internal communication channels. A thorough understanding of on-page and off-page SEO is important for the candidate to effectively create and distribute content.
• Management of press relations, including designing and implementing strategy, establishing and leveraging media relationships, responding to media requests and pitching relevant content to media outlets.
• Management and implementation of best practice measurement and evaluation tools to monitor effectiveness of the communications strategy.
• Develop and grow presence and reach across social platforms, including Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube and other channels.
• Manage and organise digital and in-person events, including securing speakers, negotiating sponsorship deals, liaising with vendors and handling post-event reports and feedback.
Requirements
• Bachelors degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing and/or English - or equivalent work experience. A Masters degree is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 5 years Communications and Content experience required.
• Strong English-language writing and public speaking skills; fluency in a second language (French) is a plus.
