JOB DETAILS:
The Catering Manager is responsible for planning and coordinating the operations of the Catering Department with the highest degree of efficiency and at reasonable cost while ensuring optimum contribution of the Department to the School’s mission and vision. The Catering Manager is accountable to the Headteacher.

Duties and responsibilities include:

In charge of providing catering services to the School by:
• Planning nutritious, balanced and varied diet menus for pupils and all

• Directing food service for pupils and
• Maintaining exemplary hygiene standards for all kitchen and service
• Maintaining exemplary hygiene standards and supervising cleaning of all kitchen and service areas and kitchen
• Ensuring that food preparation, storage and disposal procedures adhere to health and safety guidelines.
• Maintaining an awareness of current catering industry trends and being up to date with best practice in the areas of nutritional standards, the demands of young people in a fast moving and ever changing environment, and of current methods of food and menu
• Receive and respond to parent queries, enquiries and requests for their children regarding special diet
• Managing School events as per the term’s calendar e.g Bonfire, Carol Service, Speech Day among many
• Directing the duties of all kitchen and service Holding weekly staff Departmental meetings, providing clear communication concerning the Department’s activities, performance and future plans. Discussing and cascading new policies and procedures and gaining information and input from the team.
• Managing Departmental Budget by reviewing monthly and annual Departmental performance with respect to food preparation, hygiene, service and quality, and take appropriate action where necessary to assist in management decision making. Costing all prepared menus and keeping all expenditure within the budget.
• Timely requisition of foods and materials for the Catering
• Timely requisition for purchase, replacement and/or servicing of all Catering Managing all Catering Department inventory.
• Timely requisition of Catering Department staff
• Recommend suitable staff training programs aimed at enhancing value addition to the overall Departmental performance and welfare.

Qualifications and Professional Experience

• Degree or Diploma holder in Catering and Hotel Management or related qualification from a recognized
• At least 5 years progressive work experience at Managerial level in hospitality
• Previous Catering experience in a school/educational institution is preferred but not
