The Kenya Copyright Board (KECOBO) is a State Corporation under the Office of the Attorney General & the Department of Justice. It was established by section 3 of the Copyright Act 2001 and mandated with the administration and enforcement of copyright and related rights. The Board is responsible for organizing legislation on copyright and related rights; conducting training programmes on copyright and related rights; enlightening and informing the public on matters related to copyright; licensing and supervising the activities of collective management societies; and maintaining an effective databank on authors and their works.

Senior Planning Officer. KECOBO 5

REF: KECOBO/EXT/1//2022

Gross Salary: Kshs.133, 469 p.m

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Prepare strategic plan, performance contract, implementation programmes and work plans;
  2. Facilitate all departments, divisions, sections and units to have their work plans in place;
  3. In liaison with all departments, divisions, sections and units, establish monitoring and evaluation framework for implementation of the strategic plan, work plans and performance targets;
  4. Prepare the Board’s annual work plan;
  5. Monitor the achievement of the Performance Contract targets and preparation of Performance Contract reports;
  6. Evaluate implementation of the strategic plan, Performance Contract and other activities;
  7. Prepare periodic reports on the status of implementation of the strategic plan,
  8. Performance Contract and other activities;
  9. Develop and implement resource mobilization strategies;
  10. Monitor and evaluate the performance of projects and programmes and prepare reports;
  11. Carry out impact assessment on all action plans;
  12. Collect, analyze and present statistical data on activities in the form of reports and bulletins;
  13. Prepare funding proposals for resource mobilization; and
  14. Prepare budgets in liaison with the Finance Unit;

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Served for three (3) years as a Planning Officer in public sector or a reputable organization;
  2. Bachelor’s degree in Economics/Statistics or related discipline from a recognized institution;
  3. Be a member of a recognized professional body;
  4. Certificate in Management/Leadership Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
  5. Computer proficiency;
  6. Demonstrated professional competence in budget preparation and fiscal management.

 

ICT Officer, KECOBO 6

REF: KECOBO/EXT/ 2 /2022 

Gross Salary: Kshs.120, 052 p.m
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Configuration of Local Area Network and Wide Area Network;
  • Installation and configuration of computer systems;
  • Provision of hardware and software support service including end user computing devices, network, office communication lines and established information systems;
  • Management of user access rights for established ICT systems including ERP systems, CRM system, EDMS and MIS;
  • Maintenance of the Board’s website, Intranet and databases;
  • Maintenance of logbooks of ICT equipment and licensed software;
  • Carrying out repair and maintenance of ICT equipment and associated peripherals;
  • Monitoring the performance of ICT equipment and software and peripherals;
  • Preparation and updating of inventory and configuration register of all ICT assets;
  • Preparation of routine reports as and when required;
  • Participation in the development and implementation of the Board’s user specific Information Systems (IS);
  • Carrying out end user training.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/ Information Technology or related field from a recognized institution.
  • Relevant professional certification in ICT;
  • Membership to IT Professional body will be an added advantage

 

Legal Counsel, KECOBO 6

REF: KECOBO/EXT/ 3 /2022

Gross Salary: Kshs.120, 052 p.m

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Litigate on copyright matters;
  2. Prepare legal briefs, court proceedings;
  3. Give legal advice on copyright matters;
  4. Vet and verify copyright works for registration;
  5. Handle contracts and legal agreements;
  6. Draft departmental work plans; and
  7. Draft departmental reports.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Have a Bachelor’s degree in Law from a recognized institution;
  2. Be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a current practicing certificate; and
  3. Computer proficiency.

 

Senior Accounts Assistant, KECOBO 7A

REF: KECOBO/EXT/4/2022

Gross Salary: Kshs.84, 707 p.m

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Prepare cheques for all payments for appropriate approval;
  2. Ensure safe custody of records;
  3. Manage cash;
  4. Update the cashbook;
  5. Ensure that all revenues/incomes are receipted and banked intact as per laid down procedures; and
  6. Serve as bank agent and custodian of cheque books, and bank statements; handling deposits (cheques and cash) in the bank.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Have served for three (3) years as an Accounts Assistant; and
  2. Have obtained Certified Public Accountants CPA (I) or its equivalent; or
  3. Have a Diploma in Commerce/Business Administration/ Economics/Statistics or related disciplines from a recognized institution;
  4. Be Computer Proficient;
  5. Have shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance.
  6. Competence in use of ERP or, digitized accounting systems will be an added advantage

 

Senior Assistant Records Management Officer, KECOBO 7A (1 POSITION)

Gross Salary: Kshs.84, 707 p.m

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. File and bind records and repair file covers;
  2. Compile established records lists and prepare inventories, guides and other information finding and retrieval aids;
  3. Prepare the Board’s records for appraisal and disposal;
  4. Prepare records disposal and retention schedules;
  5. Manage documentation and information link center (Archives);
  6. Monitor file movement and making periodic checks to ensure that appropriate action is taken accordingly; and
  7. Ensure letters are filed and marked for action.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Have served as an Assistant Records Management Officer for a minimum period of three (3) years;
  2. Diploma or Higher Diploma in Records Management/Information Sciences or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  3. Computer proficiency; and
  4. Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance.
  5. Competence in use of ERP or, Electronic Records Management systems will be an added advantage.

 

Assistant ICT Officer, KECOBO 8C

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide computer user support services;
  2. Monitor ICT equipment performance and report ICT faults for further action;
  3. Carry out regular maintenance and servicing of ICT equipment;
  4. Carry out computer Data entry tasks;
  5. Assist in system documentations;
  6. Assist in implementing computer systems/ programs; and
  7. Assist in troubleshooting hardware and software problems.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Diploma in Computer Science or Information Technology from a recognized institution; and
  2. Certification from a recognized institution.

 

Assistant Records Management Officer, KECOBO 8C

Gross Salary: Kshs.48, 985 p.m

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain Copyright registration Database (GDA)
  • Process and archive copyright application forms, certificates and copies of registered works;
  • Scan and maintain electronic records at the Registry
  • Compile established records, lists and prepare inventories, guides and other information finding and retrieval aids;
  • Receipt and dispatch mails and maintain related registers;
  • Update and maintain up to date file movement records;
  • Prepare records disposal and retention schedules;
  • Open files, monitor file movement and make periodic checks to ensure that appropriate action is taken accordingly;
  • Ascertain the general cleanliness of the registry; and
  • Ensure that letters are filed and marked for action;
  • Competence in use of ERP or, Electronic Records Management systems will be an added advantage.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Diploma in Records Management/Information Science or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; and
  2. Computer proficiency.

 

Driver II, KECOBO 9 (1 POSITION)

REF: KECOBO/EXT/8/2022 
Gross Salary: Kshs.47, 252 p.m

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Drive vehicles as authorized;
  2. Carry out routine checks on the vehicles’ cooling oil, electrical and brake systems, tyre pressure among others;
  3. Detect malfunctioning of vehicles system;
  4. Maintain work tickets for vehicles assigned;
  5. Ensure security and safety of the vehicle on and off the road;
  6. Oversee safety of the passengers and/or goods therein; and
  7. Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. KCSE certificate with minimum grade C- (Minus)
  2. Valid driving license free from any endorsements and valid for any of the classes of vehicles which the officer is required to drive;
  3. Passed the Suitability Test for Drivers Grade I;
  4. Have at least five (5) years of active driving experience
  5. First-Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week from St. John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution; and
  6. Valid Certificate of Good Conduct

 

Receptionist, KECOBO 10 (1 POSITION)

REF: KECOBO/EXT/9/2022

Gross Salary: Kshs.36, 471

DUTIES AND RSPONSIBILITIES

  1. Guide and direct visitors.
  2. Operate the telephone switchboard (PABX).
  3. Receive and connect calls at the telephone exchange.
  4. Make official calls as directed and advised by the officers.
  5. Maintain up-to-date records of incoming/ outgoing communication as per the established information Policy
  6. Receive incoming mail deliveries and pass on to the registry.
  7. Record messages from callers, visitors and offices and relay them to respective officers.
  8. Restrict unauthorized calls and prepare charge sheets for private calls.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Certificate in Telecommunications Operations/ Front Office Management/ Customer Care or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
  2. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C (plain) or above.
  3. Good oral and written skills in both English and Kiswahili.
  4. Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner.
  5. Demonstrate hands-on experience in handling customer care services.

 

Office Assistant, KECOBO 10 (1 POSITION)

Gross Salary: Kshs.34, 721 p.m

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Clean and tidy up surfaces and assigned offices;
  2. Move and arrange office furniture, equipment, machinery and stationery;
  3. Prepare tea and snacks for authorized officers and guests and cleaning of utensils;
  4. Collect and dispatch mail and parcels;
  5. Open and lock up offices; and
  6. Operate basic office equipment which includes photocopying, binding and lamination.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Served as Office Assistant for a minimum period of three (3) years;
  2. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade C- (minus) or its equivalent from a recognized Institution.
  3. Ability to take instructions and good customer care etiquette and positive attitude;
  4. Computer proficiency; and
  5. Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
