JOB PURPOSE STATEMENT
• Strategic formulation and execution of Trade Finance products, systems and services for the entire bank.
• Drive product monitoring and control of all trade finance products in liaison with Trade finance BDMs, Relationship Managers and Trade operations team.
• Strategic support in growth of SCF revenues while providing effective client support and relationship development relating to Trade Finance products.
• Innovating Trade Finance products to take care of both current and future needs of the banks’ customers.
• Offering responsive and proactive leadership, stakeholder management to facilitate the success of Trade Finance.
• Ensure regulatory compliance on products offered by the team.
• This involves keeping abreast of the market dynamics, leading and guiding the team on the entire product development process from conceptualization, design, delivery, launch and return on investment management & tracking.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES)
Product Development (15%)
• Drive product monitoring and control of all trade finance products in liaison with Trade finance BDMs, Relationship Managers and Trade operations team.
• Ensure implementation and cascade of all appropriate procedures in line with the requirements and process in ‘user’ units.
• Ensure adherence to and application of established policies, processes, procedures and tools to achieve optimal efficiency, compliance and cost containment.
• Stakeholder management to ensure alignment on delivery of Trade Finance products.
• Restructuring the products if necessary and Managing the restructuring process
• Review existing products and continuously improve them.
• Formulate effective product documentation, policies and procedures, SLA’s to effectively deliver the envisaged proposition
• Issue resolution in relation to trade finance related issues
• Support product exemptions where a client is unable to meet certain conditions stipulated on the offer letter.
• Ensure implementation and cascade of all appropriate procedures in line with the requirements and process in ‘user’ units.
• Contribute to the formulation of the sales budget/pricing process including concessions.
• Conduct regular portfolio reviews to identify areas of improvement and develop tactical plans towards achieving set risk and compliance criteria.
• Responsible for the implementation and adoption of all Compliance, Anti-Money Laundering and Sanctions related requirements contained in policies, procedures and processes within Trade finance department, and trade finance product audits
• Using available product, e-Channel & e-Commerce marketing/sales performance i.e. volume, pricing and related revenue, provide impactful recommendations based on internal data, external trends, competitive forces and technology advancements.
• Provide regional strategic input for the Trade Finance Product
Financial (15%)
• Achieve Product, e-Channels and e-Commerce revenue target and growth as determined.
• Track and regular review of products and channels from client feedback and market trends to increase utilization of Trade Finance products by current and prospective customers.
• Together with the Head of Trade finance follow up with business development and other business segments to ensure appropriate drive of Trade Finance products.
• Identify and develop performance metrics to ensure attainment of business case objectives i.e. benefits realization tracking.
• Manage unit’s expenses.
Leadership (People Management) (15%)
• Provide leadership to create a good team environment that motivates and drives maximum productivity.
• Promote diversity, attract and retain the best talent.
• Monitor performance of the team regularly to ensure delivery of set out targets and objectives.
• Assist in the implement of a succession strategy for team.
• Disciplinary and Grievance Management for the team
• Team leave management ensuring adequate back up
• Ensure attendance and completion of all relevant training.
• Provide leadership to create a good team environment that motivates and drives maximum productivity
Service Delivery (Client Focus) (20%)
• Implement a team culture that focuses on customer service and service delivery.
• Manage and retain key stakeholder relationships and focus on building strategic relationships with key decision-makers.
• Manage and coordinate Trade Finance client engagement efforts across relevant business units (when applicable) by ensuring that individuals are clear on their contribution and expected outcomes.
• Participate in customer surveys (internal and external)
• Develop in-depth knowledge of the client’s strategy, business, financial performance, industry outlook/trends, specific segment knowledge and general macroeconomic issues and trends in the country and ensure that this is transferred to the relevant internal stakeholders.
Risk and Compliance (Internal Processes)(15%)
• Ensure the implementation and regular review of product programme guides for all product sets.
• Coordinate and assume responsibility for compiling and communicating to all stakeholders, on a regular basis, information relevant to Trade Finance portfolio.
• Conduct regular portfolio reviews to identify areas of improvement and develop tactical plans towards achieving set risk and compliance criteria.
• Responsible for the implementation and adoption (within Trade Finance unit) of all Compliance, Anti-Money Laundering and Sanctions related requirements contained in policies, procedures and processes.
Brand and Culture (10%)
• Represent Bank at sales forums and industry events.
• Promote the Bank’s brand.
• Create product awareness within the bank through quarterly training of branches, support and business teams in order to embed Trade finance culture
• Planning and developing the marketing strategy for trade products portfolio
• Coordinate the product team training and update on any trade finance related seminars
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Academic:
• A Bachelors’ degree in Business Management with a bias in Commerce, Accounting, Economics or Finance
• Possession of MBA/ MSc. in a relevant field will be an added advantage
Professional:
• Professional Banking Qualification (ACIB, CDCS, CITF, CSCF) will be an added advantage
• ACIB/AKIB/LIBF qualifications will be an added advantage
• Experience in customer service and Value Chain Finance products
• General Branch Banking Operations
• Experience in relationship management and service delivery
• Proficient in Ms Office Suite – Ms Word, Power Point, Ms Excel
Desired work experience:
• At least 7 years’ experience in business management/product development & management
• At least 2 years banking operations experience
• Critical –operational knowledge of Trade Finance products
• Previous management experience in a sales or operational role
