The School
Now in its 6th year of operation, GEMS Cambridge International School, Nairobi, offers the National Curriculum for England through the University of Cambridge Primary and Secondary Programmes, including the IGCSE and Advanced Level examinations as well as EdExcel BTEC vocational qualifications. lt is a co-educational school for students from pre-Foundation Stage to Year 13. The school, located in a very pleasant and secure residential area of Karen; a suburb of the thriving city of Nairobi, boasts a spacious, state-of-the-art campus with well-equipped teaching facilities incorporating a 400 seat auditorium, dance studio, science and computer labs, as well as extensive sports facilities, including a specialist running track, full size astro-turf pitch, indoor sports hall, fully equipped gym and an 8 lane heated swimming pool. The school also boasts a wonderful Boarding House.

THE POST
Aquatics Director
As with all GEMS schools globally, we are seeking an experienced professional who aspires to be outstanding practitioner in aquatics. The aquatics director will supervise all aspects of the pool and school's aquatics Programmes and help maintain safety standards according to GEMS Health and Safety Standards.

We are looking for individuals who are willing to personalize coaching for students, who believe in the education of the whole child and are sympathetic to the GEMS core values that characterize our schools.

Experience and Qualifications:

  •  At least four (4) years of continuous coaching of aquatic related sport
  •  Education/teaching degree OR first degree and coaching qualification/license is essential
  •  Registration with a globally recognized swimming association
  •  Previous experience of coaching in a school offering National Curriculum of England.
  •  Proven track record of creating and nurturing athletes to compete at international standard. Skills:
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  •  Flexibility creativity and adaptability
  •  Strongly established emotional intelligence
  •  Highly developed commitment to supporting the needs of students, staff and the wider school community
