JOB DETAILS:
• Ripple Effect, formerly Send a Cow, is a partnership of experienced and committed African staff and Trustees, working with support from the UK and US, and most importantly, with farming families in Africa. Together, we create a ripple effect of positive and sustainable change that grows and grows.
• With expertise in sustainable agriculture, gender and social inclusion, and enterprise development, we support farmers to learn more, grow more and sell more. Over 34 years we have seen 2.5 million people transform their lives to be free from poverty and hunger, and more resilient to the increasing challenges of the climate crisis. Our work starts on an African farm and creates a ripple effect that helps build a confident, thriving and sustainable rural Africa.
• We currently work in six countries in eastern and southern Africa and have an ambitious, but realistic, goal to reach an additional 5 million people by 2030. You can read more about our strategy here.
• Led by our Chief Executive and his management team, we employ some 230 dedicated and experienced staff in Africa, the UK and the US. As part of our Africa Forward strategy, our programmes are designed and delivered by our staff in the countries where we work. We recently opened our Africa Hub office in Nairobi led by our Africa Director.
• We are establishing the Ripple Effect Africa Hub Board as part of a wider global governance structure led by the Ripple Effect Group Board and benefiting from the experience and support of Ripple Effect Boards in Uganda, Kenya and the US.
• We are looking for Trustees who share our vision and values, are considerate to our Christian foundations, who can help us to drive us forward in our strategic ambitions. As well as having a strong interest in African rural development, they will have relevant skills, experience, and bring in networks contributing significantly as part of a Board of Trustees.
