Job Description
This position is charged with providing critical technical support to the actuarial department on a day-to-day basis.
Key Responsibilities
1) Actuarial valuation of the life and general business units’ liabilities:
a) Undertaking data quality checks and testing sufficiency
b) Preparation of valuation reports
c) Assessing adequacy of actuarial reserves
2) Solvency assessment and projections – Assess and monitor the companies’ capital positions and advise management.
3) Product development and monitoring. This includes pricing, profit testing, regulatory filing and experience review.
4) Corporate business support – Undertake periodic review of corporate schemes performance and advise the marketing division on the best rating for group businesses.
5) Undertake experience monitoring to provide management information for decision making. This shall include mortality, longevity, morbidity, lapse, expense and investment performance for Life Business. For short term business, it will include the claims, expense and reinsurance performance review.
6) Undertake Industry analysis and prepare comprehensive management reports on key emerging trends in the business and emerging opportunities.
7) Support preparation of company budgets to inform management decisions and strategy reviews for both life and general business units.
8) Provide technical support in the implementation of the IFRS 17 Accounting standard.
9) Provide advice/actuarial support on various areas to management and any other duties assigned.
Requirements
1. Bachelors’ degree in actuarial science, statistics, engineering, mathematics or any equivalent mathematical degree.
2. Progress in the actuarial exams with a minimum of 4 papers.
3. Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving and communication skills.
4. At least 2 years’ relevant work experience.
