GoBEBA is run by a highly skilled team of top Ecommerce leaders together with a highly ambitious team aiming to solve the big problems of consumer goods distribution in Sub-Saharan Africa. We therefore seek people of exceptionally high standards to deliver on this grand ambition. Due to recent growth, the firm is looking to recruit a high performing Accounting and Administrative Associate.

The Role
We are seeking an outstanding Accounting & Administrative Associate to support GoBEBA’s accounting and financial operations. You will be working in a startup environment where every day brings unique new challenges and new opportunities. This role will report directly to the founders. You must love bean counting with all your heart and be of extremely high aptitude and integrity. You will also need to be comfortable working from a conducive home environment.

Responsibilities
This role requires you to wear several hats, in which you will allocate your time to different responsibilities. You will work across account receivables , payables , inventory management and administrative functions

Accounting & Finance (80%)
• Reconcile customer payments and orders processed
• Support production of daily M-PESA reconciliations
• Assist in daily cash/float management and reconciliation of working capital
• Prepare monthly invoices and send out relevant bills in a timely manner
• Prepare documents for tax filing and other statutory payments
• Manage all expenses including petty cash accounts, and ensure that all expenses are properly supported and filed
• Prepare payments for approval e.g. vendor payments, payroll, reimbursements, recurring bills etc
• Order , receive and reconcile dark stores inventory
• Assist in preparation of monthly budget
• Assist in preparation of profit & loss statements , statement of cashflow and balance sheet
• Develop spreadsheet templates for repetitive tasks to improve productivity
• Assist in deployment of new finance and accounting systems
• Maintain proper records of any accounting and financial-related information.
• Attend to and document all issues raised on the finance desk and prepare a report on issues identified, resolved and escalated

Office Administration (10%)
• Manage Office Maintenance Staff and purchase requisite materials
• Provide general support on phone and email to ensure customer and merchant queries are addressed efficiently
• Maintain files, materials, information, schedules and related data
• Assist in receiving of letters and other documents and dispatching them to relevant offices
• Assist with the preparation of ad hoc and other internal reports
• Support staff on admin and operational issues

Other (10%)
• Support GoBEBA Customer Success operations to ensure that our customers enjoy an excellent customer experience.
• Ensure that order data is properly captured to enable proper accounting reconciliation

Your Profile
You have an excellent track record in academic and professional achievements. You are thorough in your work with a high precision to details. You love numeracy, yet you have formed a keen interest in mobile and internet economies. Independence, flexibility and speed are as important to you as gaining professional venture building experience. High drive and the ability to achieve goals in a fast-paced environment completes your profile;
1. A high aptitude individual, top of class graduate in Accounting, Math, Economics, or any other numeric is a must.
2. Overall, you must have a deep love for numbers, book-keeping, accounting, and problem solving.
3. At least 12 months of experience in a high transactions finance reconciliation environment such as retail , hotel , telecom or banking.
4. Experience in high volume retail accounting environments such as supermarket is a big plus
5. Possession or working towards a CPA or ACCA is an added advantage.
6. Advanced knowledge of Excel; can work with formulas and create templates for repetitive tasks.
7. Data-driven, speedy execution, and accuracy with unwavering attention to detail.
8. Must have impeccable integrity, be absolutely honest, and uphold the highest ethical standards.
9. Are disciplined to work independently and remotely from home.
10. A self-driven individual with an ability to work independently as well as in a team.
11. Highly organized individual who is deadline driven.
12. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
