JOB DETAILS:
Purpose of the position
• Manage the development of knowledge, strategies, and mechanisms on the science of access for PRNDs to support access to new treatments and test-and-treat approaches for neglected populations for products developed by DNDi and its partners, addressing the four key determinants of access for DNDi treatments: demand, supply, systemic obstacles, and financing.
• Manage DNDi access portfolio including budget management and accountability on deliverables internally and to donors.

Overall Responsibilities
• Operational responsibility: develop operational research plans that will meet the cross-cutting and disease-specific objectives within the set budget and timelines to promote better access to the products developed by DNDi for the most neglected patients.
• Strategic responsibility: contribute to DNDi’s building expertise in the science of access by implementing adequate tools, processes and structures.
• Contribute to the development of relevant partnerships that are critical for sustainable access to care for the most neglected in targeted countries.

Specific responsibilities:
• With the support of the disease teams, and of the DNDi hubs in Geneva, Rio de Janeiro, Nairobi, Kinshasa, Cape Town, New Delhi, and Kuala Lumpur, to coordinateand manage the in-country projects that aim at identifying 1. Key access barriers and 2. The partners most suited to sustainably overcome these barriers.
• Oversee thedesign of disease-specific operational research plans to document how specific access barriers can be overcome, to be built by the relevant partners with DNDi’s support. DNDi role will be to ensure that these plans are built on robust methodologies to enable the collection of good-quality quantitative and qualitative evidence needed to draw the lessons, (positive and negative) that will be most useful to inform stakeholders in other countries and settings on how to sustainably overcome specific access barriers.
• Oversee theimplementation of the operational research plans by partners and DNDi staff to ensure appropriate and timely collection of data
• Ensure appropriate reporting of progress over time to DNDi’s management and funding partners.
• Design a plan forcommunicating the lessons learned from the various operational research plans to the most relevant external stakeholders.
• Contribute to strategic reflexions within DNDi on how to build expertise in the science of access by implementing adequate tools, processes and structures.
• Contribute to the management of DNDi access team in a matrix organisation
• Hold the responsibility of the budget for the access portfolio

Reporting line
• The position will initially report to DNDi’s Executive Director.

Interactions
• Strong interactions with chair of the access committee, the project teams, and the R&D director
• Interaction with the planning team, the finance team and the external relations team
• Interactions with external in-country partners, and at headquarters levels where relevant.

Job Requirements
Skills and Experience
• 10 years health-related operational research experience
• Experience of working with / in disease endemic countries
• Understanding of Global Health environment, structures and networks
• Strategic, innovative and pragmatic thinking
• Innovative partnerships
• Managerial skills needed to manage remotely located team members with a large variety of settings, profiles and skills in a matrix organisation
• Ability to represent DNDi with strategic partners
• Working language is English, knowledge of other languages a plus.
