Summary
BOC Kenya Plc (BOC) is a leading supplier of industrial, medical and special gases in East Africa. The Company’s customer base cuts across a large spectrum and includes public and private hospitals, food processors, civil and mechanical engineering contractors, motor vehicle body builders, hotels and restaurants, the informal business sector (“Jua Kali”) and small and medium enterprises.

Job Purpose
The ASU Plant Operator reports to the Production Supervisor. He/She will be responsible for ensuring ensuring shift production targets are achieved, plant efficiency is maximised and availability of products that meets customer requirements consistently.

Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for ensuring the ASU is operated according to standard operating procedures, taking whilst taking into account, safety, health quality and the environment. You will also:
• Ascertain compliance to production safety, quality and health standards at all times
• Ensure maximized production and product availability as per daily shift schedule.
• Ensure specific power of not more than 2.1kWh/m3, overall gas and loss of less than 5% and daily production of minimum 15.5MT.
• Ensure decanting into road tankers and filling of dewars are done safely and with minimum product loss.
• Ensure active reporting of anomalies at the plant and complete work requests for remediation/correction; Alert the Plant Superintendent of any persisting anomalies
• Take responsibility for the housekeeping of the whole plant ensuring that it is clean and tidy; monitor safety in the operational area
• Play an active role in supporting the production team in plant maintenance
• Ensure accurate record keeping by taking hourly readings and note them down on the log sheet.
• Compute, record and report daily production and plant reports as per the stipulated procedure
• Maintain records for water treatment regime and ensure that any actions that are reported are actioned.
• Maintain and record power outages and dips including service provider reference number(s) for each power outage.
• Accompany visitors in the plant area and ascertain that no unauthorised persons are allowed into the Plant area.

Job Qualifications
• Higher National Diploma in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Technical Diploma in engineering or equivalent
• At least Three (3) years’ hands on experience
• Production planning, working of shifts with experience in a continuous production process environment.
• Technical experience in manufacturing environment is an added advantage
• Experience in production and maintenance within a continuous production process or lean manufacturing environment
