JOB DETAILS:
BACKGROUND
Our client is an international NGO that has been supporting the Government of Kenya through the Ministry of Health in scaling up WASH activities in Turkana County and West Pokot. The scope of interventions includes community sanitation programs development of technical documents and guidelines for open defecation free [ODF] and Post DDF initiatives such as the Protocol for implementing CLTS in Kenya; The National County DDF Communication planning among others. To support these activities, we are inviting applications for qualified candidates for the position of a sanitation extender as detailed below.

KEY TASKS

- Engage and link private sector to support sanitation activities and scale up of sanitation within the county by strengthening partnerships.
- Support county Public Health Officer and Community Health Workers] Volunteers on effective engagement with the private sector
- Regular update of the MIS including ensuring CLTS process data collected is uploaded into the system and provides support Public health officers in data analysis and reporting.
- Provide technical support for the County and facilitate development of related technical sanitation and hygiene promotion standards and guidelines as guided by the Kenya Environmental Sanitation and Hygiene [KESH] Policy and the Kenya Environmental Sanitation and Hygiene Strategic Framework [KESSF].
- Integrating WASH activities into existing nutrition, health and education concepts and activities in the County to improve health outcomes.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor's degree in a discipline relevant to Public Health environmental Health, humanities. Development studies
- Two years’ experience sanitation and hygiene products marketing, and/or partnership linkages in WASH projects within either private. NGO sector or the government
- Good knowledge of sanitation especially within rural Kenya context and familiarity with Community Led Total Sanitation [CLTS] processes
- Knowledge of local dialect —
