JOB DETAILS:
Introduction
The African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS) is a leading Intergovernmental STI policy Think Tank which was established in 1988. ACTS is based in Nairobi through a host agreement with the Kenya Government and enjoys international status. Currently ACTS’ governing council has representation from Ghana (current chair), Ethiopia, Malawi, Cote d’Ivoire, UK, Sweden, COMESA, NEPAD, ICRAF, Third World Academy and the East African Science and Technology Commission.
Vacant Position: Research Interns (2)
Work Location: Nairobi, Kenya.

Roles and Responsibilities
• Support the program manager with day to day management of the program.
• Participate in proposal writing for funding
• Coordinate with project/ program manager to carry out research activities.
• Provide frequent project/program progress updates, reports etc.
• Contribute to policy engagement and strategic planning
• Prepare and submit high quality publications (such as policy briefs/book chapters/Books/Journal etc).
• Support in planning for meetings, workshops, seminars, conferences and other related outreach activities etc.
• Support the program in any other administrative duties

Duration
The expected duration of engagement is six (6) months with possibility of extension depending on performance and availability of funding.

Desired Technical Background and Experience
• Education: At least Masters degree preferably in Science Technology Studies, Innovation Studies, International Relations, Engineering, Economics, Sociology, Development studies, or appropriately similar qualifications with significant experience in conducting both qualitative and quantitative research. Registered PhD are encouraged to apply.
• Experience in technical writing
• Excellent knowledge on Science Technology and Innovation (STI).
• Excellent analytical and drafting skills are required with proven experience in report writing in English and any other UN languages is an asset.
