Siaya County is one of the counties in the former Nyanza Province in the southwest part of Kenya. It is bordered by Busia County to the north, Kakamega County and Vihiga County's to the northeast and Kisumu County to the southeast. It shares a water border with Homa Bay County which is located south of Siaya County.

JOB DETAILS:

•  Operating farm tractors and plants in field operations that include ploughing, harrowing, seeding, harvesting;
  
•  Keeping monthly records of the plants;
  
•  Preparing monthly and weekly service schedules and ensuring that they are adhered to;
  
•  Supervising, Guiding and assisting in training of turn boys and machine assistants;
  
•  Repairing minor defects on assigned plant;
  
•  Liaising with Field supervisor for major repairs;
  
•  Will be charged of ensuring safety of the assigned plant;
  
•  Will be in charge of ensuring that the plant is in good condition;
  
•  Ensuring cleanliness of the assigned plant;
  
•  Assisting in training junior plant operators;
  
•  Be ready to work long hours;
  
•  Be ready to work with the Siaya community, which is diverse.
  

Qualifications

•  For appointment to this grade, an officer MUST have:
  
•  Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade ‘D’ plain or its equivalent
  
•  Passed Occupational Trade Test I for plant Operators
  
•  A valid driving license, Class D
  
•  Ability to operate at least two (2) machines, each of ‘difficult rating’ A and B (one of which is a Bull Dozer)
  
•  Attended a First Aid Course lasting not less than 1 (one) week from St. John Ambulance, or Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution.
  
•  Have at least two (2) years’ experience in operation of farm tractors and plants.
