The 90 MW Thermal Power Plant (TPP) owned by Rabai Power Limited constitutes a significant investment in the future prosperity of Kenya. With a capacity to provide power for 400,000 Kenyan Consumers, the Plant remains a key strategic Infrastructure investment into the Kenyan Electrical Generation system. The prime movers of the Power Plant are five 17 MW W18V46 4-stroke medium speed diesel engines in a combined cycle set-up, whereby the heat retained within the exhaust gasses are reused to produce steam in a Waste Heat Recovery Plant. Through a Steam Turbine (STG) “free” energy to 18,000 Kenyan consumers are produced, leaving Rabai Power as the most efficient TPP in Kenya.
