JOB DETAILS:
Program Director
Key Responsibilities and Job Dimensions
• Develop the project annual milestones and ensure they are attained on schedule.
• Deliver the project planning processes i.e. forecasts, budgets, long-range plans including analysis of variances with relevant commentary to support decision making.
• Translate the project requirements to technical requirements to match strategic objectives with practical technical solutions.
• Develop and monitor spending vs. budget to ensure optimal spending and that funds are directed towards projects that generate the required outcomes.
• Create the project dashboards and reports to support effective decision making and the organization communications of the project performance status.
• Prepare periodic reports on performance and project analysis, project trends and provide insight
• Manage and update the project operational calendar.
• Ensure appropriate follow through on actions, decisions, and commitments agreed upon are implemented by all parties.
• Attend functional team meetings to keep a pulse on the project and help connect dots with others across the organization.
• Assess inquiries directed to the Chief Programs Officer, determine the proper course of action and delegate to the appropriate individual to manage.
• Identify compliance risks throughout the portfolio and advise.
• Advise and support projects teams to comply with regulations on financial management, procurement, audit, reporting, visibility and communications.
• Develop procedures and reporting structures.
Academic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, or Development related field.
• Advanced degree such as MBA is preferred.
• Experience working in livelihoods projects is desirable.
• Excellent project management skills including being incredibly organized with calendars, Gantt charts and trackers.
• Solid functional knowledge, including but not limited to strategy, operations, HR, supply chain, customer experience management, finance, project management.
Other requirements (unique/job specific)
• 8-10 years’ experience working in the development and humanitarian sector.
• In depth knowledge of project management
• Excellent budget analysis and budget development skills.
• Excellent written, oral and presentational communications skills
• Excellent reporting skills.
• Strong team player who is able to establish solid working relationships with colleagues.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
