KCA University (KCAU) is a private, non-profit institution, founded in July 1989 as Kenya College of Accountancy (KCA) by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) to improve the quality of accountancy and financial management training in the country. Lecturer in Cyber Security & Forensics

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach and facilitate learning at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels through lecturers, seminars, workshops, tutorials and other learning situations as assigned by the HOD from time to time.
  • Participate in the development, administration and marking of exams, assignments and continuous assessments tests.
  • Assist in the development of learning materials, preparing schemes of work and maintaining records to monitor student progress, Achievement and attendance.
  • Provide advice, guidance and feedback to students to support their academic progress and referring student to support services as appropriate.
  • Contribute to the development, planning and implementation of high-quality curriculum.
  • Participate in supervision and assisting of undergraduate and post graduate students in their research work.
  • Carry out research and produce publications, as well as other research outputs, in line with personal objectives agreed in the Faculty Annual Assessment Review (FAAR)
  • Participate in writing of research proposals and applying of research grants.
  • Contribute and participate in the development in the departmental and faculty seminars aimed at sharing research outcomes and building interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside the department.
  • Provide pastoral care to students through academic advising and counselling.
  • Contribute to departmental, faculty and/or University wide working groups or committee as, when requested to do so;
  • Undertake continuous professional development and participate in staff development and training activities to update and enhance skills;
  • Maintain proper records of students’ examination, assignments and continuous assessments tests and ensure they are keyed in examination records management system in time;
  • Attend departmental, Faculty and University –wide meetings with other staff members;

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • PhD Degree in Information Science/Information Technology/Computer Science or relevant field from an accredited and recognized university
  • At least 5 years’ teaching experience at the University level
  • Should have published at least 2 peer reviewed articles in distinguished academic journals
  • Has attained the Academic Rank of a Lecturer

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Determine the situational context of the individual information needs of users when interacting with each user in person or through another communication channel.
  • Analyze information sources recommended to users in the context of the attractiveness, interests, and content level of each user.
  • Suggest specific works that relate to what the user said is important.

Librarian– Information Literacy and User Awareness (Internal Advert)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support development and management, in collaboration with the Senior Librarian – Acquisitions and planning the instructions and training schedules for both online and in-person users.
  • Market and promote the library and its services by developing Library users’ guides, marketing tools and instructional materials.
  • Collaborate with relevant university offices and staff to embed and promote Library resources.
  • Assist in selective dissemination of information to relevant information users and information services requests.
  • Responsible for inter-campus libraries information resources sharing and document delivery services.

Senior Librarian – Acquisition and Planning (Internal Advert)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, coordinate, and evaluate procedures for the development of library collections.
  • Oversee library materials acquisitions and monitor expenditures.
  • Develop, plan and evaluate the instructions and information Literacy schedules for both online and in-person users.
  • Responsible for the analysis and implementation of library acquisitions.
  • Provide leadership to the library team to help in maintaining and keeping the library collection current and useful to the user community.
  • In consultation with the Head of Library Services, prepare library information resources budget estimates.
  • Participate in consortium committees, and monitor communications to implement and coordinate changes in policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate collection development approval plans. Establish and implement policies and procedures.
  • Receive request for library materials and performs pre-order research and verification of bibliographic data.
  • Review and analyze collections, conduct collection evaluation, and assess collection strengths and weaknesses in all subject areas. Collect annual usage and collect usage statistics.
  • Monitor and respond to patron suggestions for items to purchase by ordering the material and sending e-mail responses.
  • Verifies status of orders and invoices.
  • Maintain acquisition data and statistics.
  • Provide leadership for the Information Literacy function of the Library.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s in library and Information Sciences from a recognized University
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a University Library

  • Knowledge in Library Management, automation, and E-Library services.
  • Information Literacy competence.
  • Ability to deal with readers and colleagues in a friendly, proactive, and friendly manner.
