JOB DETAILS:
Intern - Public Information
Interns work five days per week under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.
Responsibilities
• Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background; the intern's assigned office as well as the internship period.
• Under the supervision of the Associate Public Information Officer, the intern will:
• Assist in producing social media plans and campaigns, as well as explore more potential online initiatives to raise the visibility of the Visitors Service work;
• Assist in drafting content for public information materials, including newsletter articles and social media posts; Assist in the preparation of the in-person and virtual guided tours;
• Assist with the creation and updating of website content;
• Assist in the organization and execution of events to mark UN observances, press conferences, media launches, campaigns, or exhibitions;
• Help design various information materials, including publication covers, presentation templates, flyers, infographics, and social media visuals;
• Help take photos of events when required and provide assistance in managing the photo library;
• Assist in shooting and editing film videos, mixing sound and slideshows, if required;
• Provide research for background/information materials; Initiate and carry out assigned tasks/special projects as requested.

Education
Applicants must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:
• Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
• Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent);
• Have graduated with Bachelor's degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent
• Be computer literate in standard software applications.
• Have demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter;
• Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Preferred areas of studies:
• Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Social Sciences, Graphic Design, IT or related field.
• Interest in planning and executing advocacy campaigns is desirable.
• Ability to take photos and edit videos is desirable.
• Knowledge of Adobe Creative Studio, Canva, Drupal, HTML is desirable
Work Experience
• No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
