Head of Pension

Job Description
This role is responsible for acquiring and managing a portfolio of clients (large portfolios), by providing a full spectrum of products and services to grow the Employee Benefits line of business. The incumbent is individually accountable for achieving results through efforts of others.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
o Providing strong leadership in business development for pension products in order to ensure that contributions, funds under management, profitability and customer retention targets are met
o Responsible for the development and execution of business plans and budgets for pension products.
o Manages all contracted client deliveries relevant to each product line of the Corporate Business.
o Manages client relationships proactively.
o Provides alternative solutions and ensures cross selling of products takes place.
o Manages a portfolio of existing clients (large portfolios) and recommends enhanced products to suit client's needs.
o Manages the sales pipeline and is responsible for the delivery of the new business sales targets as contracted.
o Continuous review of the market to monitor threats and opportunities from the competition.
o Responsible for the retention of existing clients.
o Reviews client product portfolio regularly.
o Manages sales administrative resources and the output of these resources.
o Be the product owner for the EB range of products.
o Manages daily operational (client service and or administrative) delivery within the specific functional area.
o Manages the sales pipeline and is responsible for the delivery of the new business sales targets as contracted.
o Compiles customer value proposition as well as business model for entry into identified markets.
o Ensures integration of new business opportunities with existing initiatives within the business.
o Builds relationships and networks with external stakeholders and potential alliances.
o Conducts presentations to introduce new initiatives and ensures buy-in.
o Guides and directs staff to achieve operational excellence standards.
o Develop the marketing strategy for UAP Old Mutual Life Pension channel to foster the achievement of set business goals.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
o Ability to deliver results when objectives are set.
o Excellent relationship management skills.
o High level of initiative and self-motivation.
o Strong working knowledge of MS Office suite of programs.
o Task and time management proficiency.
o Good communications skills.
o Resilience to cope with pressure of working in a fast paced, dynamic and rapidly changing customer expectations environment.

QUALIFICATIONS , KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
o Bachelor degree in Numerical, Commerce or Marketing is required.
o Professional papers- Insurance, accounting, or finance.
o Customer Service & Sales experience will be an added advantage.
o Technical Knowledge.
o 5 years’ experience in marketing financial services or marketing in the business.
o 3 years’ Employee Benefits products.
